A Little Bit Country

I’ve had this dress for probably eight years. How many times have I worn it? Maybe three, and once was as a skirt.  So when I saw that Jacqueline at Stylin in St. Louis and Elle from Living in Color were doing a link up featuring summer dresses I decided I would challenge myself to actually wear this one.
I do giant closet purges twice a year, but somehow this dress dodged the bullet for years.  Why don’t I wear it? Hmmm…good question. I fell in love with it when I first saw it in the Victoria’s Secret catalog all those years ago, and when it got here I still loved it and yet it sat around gathering dust. Maybe it’s the ruffle…I’m not really a ruffle kind of girl.  Or maybe it’s because it’s strapless and I fear my girls might make a surprise appearance at some inopportune moment…I don’t know.
I did like it once I saw the pictures. I think I like it better with the sandals, the booties almost look too “costumey” with it…hence the post title.  I have that song Donny and Marie Osmond used to sing stuck in my head like a brain worm…”I’m a little bit country, he’s a little bit rock ‘n roll…” Great. Now I have to live with that all day!
Today’s link ups are:  Spotlight Weekly Link Up 2/Summer Dresses at Stylin in St. Louis and Living in Color and the Summer Style Link Up at Mix and Match Fashion.

Style Tip:  Try styling things you already have in your closet in different ways.  Try different shoes, accessories, or layers to mix things up.

Ha! I think you might have mentioned it…I particularly like my hair in the 4th picture where it has that little flippy thing stickin’ out of the side of my head!
Thanks for the compliment!

I think the dress looks incredibly cute with the chambray top over it! And those wedges go perfectly with the look 🙂
