A Shoe Story: Multicolor Maxi Skirt, Denim Vest And Black Peep Toe Booties

I guess I should have provided a more thorough explanation in yesterday’s post. One of my favorite things about blogging is reading the comments that you lovelies leave for me and a couple of yesterday’s made me laugh out loud (LOL if I were trying to be cool). While I do agree that donating 37 pairs of shoes makes me sound like I qualify for a very special edition of Hoarders on A&E (you know, with my face blurred out with the little squares and a voice synthesizer that makes me sound like Darth Vader), it’s actually more a case of…hmmm… let’s call it “lackadaisical procrastination” shall we? How’s that for a politically correct spin on uber lazy? These shoes have been accumulating dust in the eaves of my attic since my son was probably in elementary school. Ummm…he’s 24 now. You see, going up and down to the attic requires a bit of athletic prowess. It has a pull-down rickety ass ladder that I have to climb up and down every time I make a trip. While it’s quite good for my glutes, it’s really just too much effort. I’d rather do lunges. Really. I would. I have to carb load and psyche myself up for days prior to the annual seasonal clothing storage switch and the bringing down of the Christmas ornaments. Therefore, it has just been easier to ignore it. Like I said, “Out of sight, out of mind.” Maybe this explains why my career as a closet organizer failed.
And can I just tell you what a horrifically ugly collection of footwear it was? Nothing retro cool goin’ on up there, trust me. I’ve always thought I had mad skills at putting together outfits, but looking at some of those shoes made me doubt my sanity. Several times I opened a box and squealed, “WTF?!” Did I seriously for real wear these somewhere? In public no less? Good lord, I must have spent the 90’s in some sort of fugue state, perhaps recovering from the 80’s…I don’t know.
This is probably my most favorite of all my maxi skirts. It’s like the acid trip of maxi skirts with all of that crazy color going on. And that’s exactly why I love it. Because it’s so insane on it’s own I always try to keep the top simple. That would be why I went with a plain white tank and denim vest. I didn’t get a good shot of the fabulous peep toe booties, so feel free to take a gander here.

Damn. And here I thought the attic was filled with Jimmy Choos and Louboutains. Of course if it were you might have been living in the attic. Isn’t there a book called Shoes in the Attic?

I carb load for everything. Is that wrong? ; )

Love the colourful skirt.

I just love the colours in the maxi skirt! They are fabulous. I love a maxi skirt all year round. Your necklace matches so well!

We just got some new bedroom furniture so I am in the closet of cleaning out the closet. I just went through just my workout clothes and ended up with 2 garbage bags of stuff to donate! I was shocked how many running shirts I’ve accumulated over the years. As much as I wanted to hold on to them for each one was a proud accomplishment, I went wearing the shirts because of the fit. I figure it was time to let them go.

Great skirt!

that is such a gorgeous printed skirt! 🙂 I’m really bad with holding onto things too, I’ve had a little pile of donations for months now – I just keep adding to it, and not actually taking it to the shelter! Oops!
