Best Boyfriend Jeans Ever

Two super exciting things…First and most exciting, today I was invited to Co-Host Fashion Item Friday with the fabulous Renae at Simple Sequins. How cool is that?  Renae is one of my favorite bloggy friends. She is one of the kindest people I’ve ever met (in person or in the cyber-world), and she puts out a fantastic blog with lots of personal style inspiration.  Her outfits are always so well put together, and she is a bargain/thrifting genius.  It’s definitely worth your time to swing by Simple Sequins and check her out!
The second exciting thing is I think that I have found the best boyfriend jeans ever.  Okay, maybe that’s a bit of an overstatement.  Let me amend that by saying the best boyfriend jeans ever for me.  They are surprisingly from Old Navy.  Surprising in that I’ve never really loved Old Navy jeans.  They just don’t seem to fit me right, but these do.  They have that perfect right amount of slouchiness without being too baggy… that’s hard to find, and the leg opening is just right…not to narrow and not too wide.  Believe me, I’ve searched.  I have found some contenders, but never perfection. And I must say these are damn close to perfection.
In light of the fact GAP and Old Navy are two of the biggest offenders in the travesty that is vanity sizing, it’s sometimes tough to gauge what size to get if you’re ordering online.  Since my typical elfin size in the GAP boyfriend jeans doesn’t have that aforementioned slouchiness, I lived on the edge and sized up to slightly larger than elfin size in the Old Navy jeans.  Bingo! Found a winner!  The only thing that would’ve made these better is if they’d been free.  But I guess you can’t have everything.

That looks great. and …the heads up on Old Navy Boyfriend jeans is a great tip. I have struggled with Old Navy Jeans too, but now I’ll consider them so much more. wow. 😀

You are welcome Renae…I meant every word of it. I was pretty surprised about the jeans, but then again I haven’t tried jeans from there for years.

I love the necklace! Great combo with the flannel. My funny story about “boyfriend” jeans. After my daughter finished her master’s I was able to go back to school. I was running late one morning, and there was only one basket of clean laundry. A pair of my husband’s jeans was on top, and no matter how deep I dug I could not find any of my jeans so I put his on. They were ripped at the knees and faded, too long, etc. but they were my only option. So I cuffed them, threw on a sweater set and… Read more »

I hopped over from Friday Fab. The jeans are a good fit. I like the plaid shirt you paired them with. That shade of blue is beautiful. Shopping for jeans is always challenging. A lot of time is usually spent in the dressing room and then you always have to figure out if there is enough stretch content. Glad you found a pair you really like.

You know, your theory about Old Navy being really big on vanity sizing makes a lot of sense…I guess that’s why the XS size there always seems huge in comparison to XS anywhere else… I do have one pair of jeans from there that I like, though I’ve never tried the boyfriend style jeans…a couple years ago I was searching for the perfect pair till I gave up.

I always need 0’s at GAP and ON both, but everywhere else I’m typically a 2, sometimes a 4. There tops don’t seem to run big, just the bottoms.
