Look behind me. Look very carefully. What do you see? Ya, ya, I know…you see that super awesome mansion/estate/what the hell is that doing in redneck country structure. But that’s not what I’m talking about…
THE STORY
…I’m talking about the proliferation of large menacing waterfowl lurking around behind me. Yes. They are lurking. And menacing. Trust me on this. I’ve alluded before to my phobia fear of all things feathered and flying. And my suspicion and distrust of the species grows in direct correlation to the size of said species; perhaps that explains why the one exception to this rule is my love of hummingbirds. Although I think that’s due to the fact hummingbirds are more like little feathered fairies than sky predators. But I digress.
I’ve gotten used to taking photos if there happens to be humans around. I do still try to avoid that if possible, but if it can’t be avoided I’ll work with people in the vicinity. But a gaggle of geese? Seriously, I considered switching to a different location. They were not in the least bit intimidated by my vehicle, myself nor the large dog walking by with his human. They were not at all impressed with any of that nonsense. And why should they be? The suckers are like my size and they can fly.
While the feathered sky beasts were unconcerned with my presence I was quite the opposite. I spent the entire time surreptitiously peeking over my shoulder. I was certain one or fifty of them was going to creep up on me; giant waterfowl are shifty like that.
THE OUTFIT
How fabulous is this buffalo plaid tunic from Boutique 16063? Typically I associate buffalo plaid with warm, cozy Winter wear, but this tunic is lightweight and perfect for the in between off the rails weather we’ve been experiencing lately. It’s Winter-ish without the Winter bulk. And once the true cold does roll around again it will make the perfect layering piece; a chunky black pullover or cardi on top with a black skirt extender, tights and otk boots on the bottom. And can we have a moment of silence for that surprise lace party going on in the back? When I originally pulled this off of the rack I loved it, but when I saw the back? Officially smitten.
I was originally leaning towards my red Converse, but instead decided to go with the always crowd favorite red ankle boots. It seems like no matter what I pair them with, they’re definitely the star of the show. The nice thing about that is, when you have a truly standout pair of shoes or boots like these, you could pair them with something as simple as a white tee and jeans and look like a sartorial goddess.
THE TIP
Always have at least one pair of insanely amazing scene stealing shoes or boots in your wardrobe arsenal. They will be your go-to’s on the days that you’re just not feeling the closet love, but still want to look like you made the effort to get up, dress up and show up.
