I know I have an absurdly large collection of graphic tees, but believe it or not, I have very specific criteria for which tees make the cut and get to come home with me.
One or both of these have to be true: a) Whatever is on the tee/tank has to be meaningful to me in some way. Or b) It has to amuse me. The one I’m wearing today has a great deal of meaning in so many different ways. It is a recurring problem in my line of work that my students feel like they’re not normal and not good enough. I tell them all of the time, “You just learn differently, that’s all. Everyone is different and different is a good thing. You never ever want to be like everyone else.” If I had a dime for every time I’ve said that or some variation of it… I’m also a huge advocate for gay rights; I’m a card carrying member of PFLAG and proud of it. I have absolutely no problem defending my position, especially because I’m a proud mom of a gay son. I think that so many people who are opposed to gay rights fear what is different from them, and therefore don’t understand. Again, the message on this tee covers it…different is beautiful.
I absolutely love this cocoon cardigan. Oddly enough, the last time it made the blog I was sportin’ it with a graphic tee (here). My only regret? That I didn’t pick it up in the cream color when I bought this one a few months ago. I might have to swing by JCPenney and see if it’s hiding away on the clearance rack. It makes the perfect third piece and works with so many different things…dresses, jeans, shorts. I had to layer a tank under the graphic tee because it’s a bit too cropped and a bit too see-thru. I went with a stripe instead of plain so there was just the subtlest hint of print mix instead of my usual all up in your face print mixing.
