It’s never a good sign when I write the “Outfit” and “Tip” part of my post first…
THE STORY
…That typically means that for whatever reason I’m at a loss for words; and alas, that is the case with this post. I have several good topics in the pipeline, just none that I particularly feel like writing about today. I suppose I could go on a tear about the fact our President has insulted and alienated every sane human leader of our allies while cozying up to two of the most vile murderous autocratic dictators on the planet. But that’s umm…simply too terrifying to think about right now. I can’t even complain about the weather because it’s actually been pretty gorgeous as of late.
That leaves me with…nothing. Crickets…do you hear them? I think my writer’s block is actually a two part problem; 1. I haven’t really done anything all that interesting recently so I haven’t seen/experienced anything post worthy and, 2. I’ve got some pretty big stuff of a personal nature taking up brain space right now and it’s squeezing out all of the creative juices. That’s one of the cons of not working all Summer. I don’t have work to distract me from obsessing over things, and trust me, once my brain has latched onto something it simply will not let it go until I do what I gotta do to resolve it. Does that make any sense? In any case, I do apologize and I promise I’ll try to provide you with a more entertaining post next time. Fortunately for me, this post isn’t setting the bar very high… 😉
THE OUTFIT
For some reason a few weeks ago I got a bug up my butt about distressed (of course) Bermuda shorts. Why? Who knows…understanding the mysteries of how my mind works is a full-time job. Anyhow, over the past few months I have developed an undying love for the Tomgirl line at American Eagle. I have the Tomgirl pants in three colors and I have both the distressed and (shocker) non-distressed version of the Tomgirl jeans. Somehow the jeans haven’t made it to the blog yet even though I wear them all of the time assuming it isn’t a thousand degrees outside. They have actually replaced my years long number one favorite GAP boyfriend jeans.
Lucky me, AE also has Tomgirl Bermuda shorts which I now own in both the light and dark wash. They are soft, comfortable and just the right amount of slouchy which is always important to me. If you do happen to be thinking of checking them out, the online reviews indicate that the dark wash runs way smaller than the light; I did not find that to be true. Both pairs are the same size and fit me exactly the same way. The nice thing is that they fit the same as both the jeans and the pants so there is no guesswork. It’s rare to find that kind of consistency so hopefully they don’t change the sizing next season like GAP and Old Navy tend to do.
I wore this on a coffee date with my bestie last week and it was the perfect coffee date look. The graphic tee and shorts were fine on their own, but like I always say, throw a kimono over just about anything and you’ve got a party my friends. Add some cute peep toe booties and it’s almost as fun as a bunch of squirrels at a rave.
THE TIP
Believe it or not, cute Bermuda shorts do exist. This season there are about thousand different versions in denim, both distressed and not, which look cute with just about anything that you pair them with. If you fear the frump factor simply pair them with heels and all thoughts of frump will fly out the window.
