Spring is back and I think that it’s officially here to stay…
THE STORY
…Isn’t it funny how a simple change in temperature can change your entire outlook on life? Much like last year, we really didn’t have much of a Winter, but even when there isn’t a lot of snow, the cold damp ugliness makes you want to hole up in your cave until the end of March when the warmth and sunshine returns. Truth be told, I’d rather there was snow. At least then you get a little bit of pretty to go along with the cold.
My favorite thing about Spring (besides the warmer temperatures) is the scent. It’s like I can actually smell things growing; it’s fresh and clean and alive. Nothing makes me happier then when coming and going to my car each day I can see tulips, hyacinths, daffodils and irises poking their little green heads out of the ground in my flower bed. And once they bloom…nothing smells as sweet as hyacinths and daffodils!
There’s just something about Spring that feels like new beginnings. For me, Fall is like that too because the beginning of a new school year is like a fresh start. I love Summer, but neither the beginning of Summer nor Winter has quite the same feel as Spring and Fall. I think the key to Spring is the feeling of emerging from a metaphorical Winter cocoon. The heavy layers are shed and are replaced by a lightness; both in regard to clothing and the soul. The long cold dark days are replaced by extra sunlight and warmth. You can throw open the windows and let the fresh air flow through your space. It wakes you up…and reminds you that it’s time for a new beginning.
THE OUTFIT
In light of my love of flowers, it was a no-brainer for me to choose this sweet little embroidered denim jacket embellished with delicate red and yellow flowers from Metrostyle. It’s true that I already own a plethora of denim jackets, but this one is special. Note the 3/4 sleeves and the slightly nipped in waist; little details that make a huge difference my friends.
My newfound love of hoodies continues, and this lightweight tassel tunic hoodie is perfect for Spring/Summer. It’s light, but not sheer which eliminates the need for an additional layer underneath. The length makes it perfect for pairing with skinny jeans or leggings, but it will also pair well with a pencil skirt if the need arises. Actually both pieces are perfect for dressing up or down. The cut of the denim jacket makes it a fabulous stand in for a blazer, and how cute would it be with my gold sequin pencil skirt?
As a special treat for you, Metrostyle is offering a 20% discount especially for my readers through 4/31/2017. Simply enter MS54220 at checkout to receive 20% off your entire order!
THE TIP
Want to give denim on denim a shot, but fear the Texas tuxedo look? Here’s the easy way to do it…pair a blue denim jacket with black denim jeans like I’m sporting here. It’s like denim on denim for beginners.
