This week I’m throwing my weekly random musings your way today instead of the first post of the week like I usually do…
THE STORY
…In my first post this week I had more important words to share than my list of strange and unusual things that amused me. In light of Tuesday’s heavy post I thought some silliness was in order. Today’s Weekly Randomness is a little “dog heavy” in content, but seriously, there’s no such thing as too many dogs and besides, dogs make everything better, even a heavy heart…
- First, I bring you the beautiful Troja. She may well be the most drop dead gorgeous pup that I’ve ever seen. Seriously, would you not kill for hair as beautiful as hers? It doesn’t hurt that she lives in Norway with her photographer dad. I have followed them on Instagram since I first saw this article on Buzzfeed.
- Heads up all you makeup lovers out there! The annual Sephora Beauty Insider Holiday Sale starts this weekend. That means 20% off both in-store and online. This article explains how it all works. Time to stock up on all of your favorites and maybe get some Christmas shopping out of the way!
- I can’t even with this little cutie posing as a stray so random strangers will feed her burgers at McDonald’s! Be sure to watch the video of what she did when her mama busted her.
- Taking blog photos in a small town vs. the city: Small town~ “What are you doing?” “Taking outfit photos for my blog.” “Um, what?” “I have a fashion blog and I take pictures of my outfits to post them.” “What’s a fashion blog?” City~ No one even bats an eye, let alone ask questions, as I walk across a street multiple times with a photographer trotting backwards in front of me snapping picture after picture. Not one single question…
- And finally, this dog/llama hybrid wins Halloween forever…
THE OUTFIT
Last week I shared the first of three pieces that I received c/o Eva Trends. When I saw this mustard plaid shirt it was instant love. It’s the perfect length to wear with leggings or skinny jeans and because I’m miniscule in size it also doubles as a cute little mini dress…#shortgirladvantage. And the colors are perfect for this time of year. Something about Fall just makes me wanna bust out the mustard yellow, which btw, is the only shade of yellow that I’ll wear. It’s a nice light yet substantial cotton and the construction is perfect. As I said last week, if you’re looking for cool unique pieces to add to your closet, take a few minutes to peruse Eva Trends. Be sure to use code “FF10” at checkout for 10% off your entire purchase.
Since it isn’t super heavy it made the perfect layering piece under my new favorite sweater from American Eagle. My daughter and I actually co-own four different colors at last count. I’ve developed big love for AE, and I’m pretty sure if they’d allow it, I would just move into American Eagle and live out my days there. Anyway, it’s the perfect mid-weight waffle knit; the just right cozy sweater without any added bulk. Plus it has cute balloon sleeves for a fun added detail.
One caveat though…for the first time ever, I’ve found a sizing issue at AE and it’s with this sweater. The original two that we bought were both smalls and I only tried on the red one which fit just right. When I got them home the two were way different sizes. Actually the one I’m wearing today is too big for my taste, but I kept it anyway. I had ordered two more online (both smalls) and when they came they were ginormous as well, but not quite as large as this one. I returned them both in store (they were smalls) for smalls in the same colors. Do you see what I’m getting at? Same sweater, same color, same size on the tag…not the same size in reality. Long story short…I do love the sweater, but I suggest both sizing down and checking it out in store if possible.
THE TIP
This tip is for all of the stature impaired ladies out there…a longer tunic/top will oftentimes work as a mini dress just as a midi dress will often make the perfect maxi dress.
