Friends, I’m going to be blatantly honest with you today…
THE STORY
…I am freakin’ exhausted. By Wednesday or Thursday my ass is always soundly kicked, but I’m even more tired than usual. I don’t have a particularly good story in regard to why, my excuse is (and I always readily admit this) I’m mentally twelve years old.
First of all, last night I stayed up well past my bedtime. I knew better, but I did it anyway. Although I was doing something relatively adult…I was glued to the television watching election results like a kid engrossed in meaningless YouTube videos.
Then today after work I got my new iPhone XR…in coral, it’s actually more of a bright peachy-orange. Omg…you guys, it is so crazy pretty! I was torn between the bright yellow (which says something in light of the fact I don’t love yellow) and the coral. Ultimately I went with coral since it was my first choice. When I got home I lost literally hours of my life playing with it. It’s so different from my 7 and it’s so much fun. I seriously cannot wait to play around with the portrait mode in the camera. See? I’m a twelve year old. Give me a shiny new electronic device and all adulting activities are cancelled until further notice.
Finally, I decided I had to accomplish at least something so I hauled some things to the attic for storage. And while I was up there I had a squirrel moment…I got distracted by the massive selection of sweaters that I still hadn’t brought downstairs. Sooo…I stopped my first project and started sorting sweaters. I gotta say, bringing seasonal stuff out of storage is like a free shopping spree. I always find all sorts of things I forgot that I had.
By the time I finished that little adventure I was spent. So that leaves you guys listening to my baby-like whining about being tired because that’s all I have left. Hey, at least you got a mini-review of one of the new iPhones out of it…
THE OUTFIT
Tuesday’s post was all about how to style floral prints in the colder months. My styling tip on Tuesday was to try florals in darker colors. Today I’m sharing another option with this skirt in pastel shades.
While this isn’t a true “cold weather” outfit, it’s also definitely not Summer either. I styled it with my ruched peplum top because it has 3/4 sleeves which were just enough coverage for the cool, but not cold day that I wore it. The black combat boots (you could sub in a different boot style or pumps if combat boots aren’t your jam) ground the skirt and add an even more cool weather vibe.
Once full-on Winter hits I’ll still wear this skirt, but instead pair it with a black chunky sweater, black tights and black boots for added warmth.
THE TIP
Wearing pastel floral prints in the Winter is easy. Simply pair them with a chunky knit in a darker hue along with tights and boots.
