Let me begin by saying, I realize that I’m no spring chicken. At least not chronologically. So don’t be thinking I’m hatin’ on the older generation with this story. But what is it with old dudes and sweet rides? They get a cool car and they become all kinds of courageous. Over the years, every once in awhile I’ll meet up with one of my girlfriends for a morning coffee at our local Panera. Yes, believe it or not, we do have a Panera. And a Starbucks; rogue wildlife aside, here in the backwoods we do have some of the modern conveniences the rest of you do. Okay…back to the story. No matter what day of the week it is, there’s always this group of “gentlemen of a certain age” who have the two tables by the door apparently permanently reserved for them. They hang out and chit chat and scope out everyone of the female persuasion who comes through the doors. They’re like a group of teenage boys hangin’ on the street corner wearing their saggy pants and hittin’ up on the ladies. Only the more polite and slightly weathered version; but still with the saggy pants. Hey, I’m not being snarky…it is what it is.
My friend and I were standing by my car finishing up our conversation when one of the gentlemen comes out and hops in the orange convertible Corvette parked next to me. He starts it up and guns the engine while giving us this sly smile. One of his buddies (who I’m sorry to say, was the poster child for why men should never ever color their hair) strolls over to us all cool-like and says, “Are you ladies hoping for a ride?” Um. No. And honestly, besides the fact we’re both happily married, it wasn’t an age thing…it was a skeeviness thing. My girlfriend politely declined to which Corvette dude responded with an extra loud gunning of the engine and off he went like he was the coolest thing since Al Gore invented the Internet. Seriously, is it the hot car or has that guy been that convinced of his awesome his entire life? Kudos to the self-confidence I suppose, but maybe turn down the skeeve factor a notch or ten.
How crazy fabulous is this floral print dress? I happened upon it in my Instagram feed (I know, I have a problem…) awhile back and fell in insta-love. Seriously though, you can see why right? The styling possibilities are endless. I went for the casual laid back option for it’s first outing, hence the Converse and chambray shirt. Although it’s body hugging, it’s really insanely comfortable so that makes it even better. I imagine it will be smokin’ hot with a pair of pink pumps. It will work with a blazer over it, or in the winter a sweater with tights and boots. Like I said, endless.
