When I posted a shot of this top on my Instagram and Facebook page over the weekend many of my bloggy and Instafriends were shocked and horrified (okay, a bit surprised maybe) that up until now I did not own a gingham shirt. I do have this one, but it’s flannel. Flannel and 93% (yes, 93%) humidity are not exactly BFF’s so it’s spending the summer in my winter storage facility a.k.a. the attic. I found this little lovely via Instagram at a boutique called Sophia Kaye.
I follow a number of boutiques on Insta and I have to tell ya, they are the devil. Why? Well, you see some cute little number show up in your feed and you think, “Ooo…I’d love to have that!” And guess what? 9 times out of 10 you can buy it right then and there. Just comment and an invoice gets sent to your email. Easy peasy. Yes, my friends, perhaps too easy when you consider I have the self-control of a gorilla at a banana buffet. I know, I know. I’m a grown ass woman and could simply choose to not follow said boutiques. But seriously, what fun would that be?
It’s been awhile since I’ve thrown any print mixing your way so I added the leopard (not technically leopard, more like some random animal) print clutch to make it a print party. And another first in addition to the gingham; the button down half tuck. That sounds like some complex Olympic dive doesn’t it? I’ve seen it done on other bloggers, but I could never, at least in my mind, get it to look right. I think I did okay for a first timer. It adds a little quirkiness to an otherwise every day sort of look don’t you think?
