Impressionist Art: Multicolor Skirt And Top And White Sandals

Wow! Does this look like I was a casualty at an explosion at the Crayola factory or what? But I love it! So much color and happiness in one outfit can’t be beat. It reminds me of Impressionist artwork…maybe this is what would have happened if Monet was a fashion designer instead of a painter. And the sandals are the most stupid comfortable pair of heels I’ve ever come across, so much so that I bought them in black as well. I got them on the cheap at Kohl’s. I never shop there, but finding sandals to go with this outfit turned in to an odyssey. I have two pairs I have to send back because they didn’t make the cut. I stopped at Kohl’s as kind of a last ditch effort and low and behold…the shoe gods smiled down upon me and there they were. As much as I love this outfit, I gotta say it was supremely hard to style. Colored shoes/sandals seemed like too much, but nude and black weren’t working either…and I think it probably would have been better without the necklace. I went back and forth and finally caved because I felt naked without one!
I wore this over the weekend to an event that was the first of the two world rocking things that I mentioned in last week’s post. Our oldest son got married. And this is really cool…he married one of my all-time favorite students from back in my high school teaching days. Seriously, how cool is that? And what a small world…who could’ve guessed that all those years she was calling me “Mrs. Stinedurf” she would be the next Mrs. Stinedurf. One other small thing that I haven’t quite been able to get my head around (this is the world rocking part), they’re going to have a baby…so, ummm…ya, you know what that makes me? Don’t say it, I’m not ready yet…I have a ten year old daughter for crying out loud! Ha!

And here’s a rarely seen family shot (minus the two older brothers who weren’t there at the time)
Top and Skirt: JCPenney;  Sandals: Kohl’s;  Necklace: Shamelessly Sparkly

Well I can assure you that you don’t look like any granny in this! : ) The colours are fabulous. You all look picture perfect.

Congratulations to your son and his new wife and the baby on the way!

They will need to think of another name for you other than Grandma…

You’re so sweet. My husband and I are actually having a hard time coming to grips with this…maybe that makes us bad people, but it is what it is! Definitely need a word other than grandma… 🙂

Speechless! Due partly because of the stunning outfit but primarily because of your amazing news! Not the Grand-mere part (how about that? In French, it sounds a lot more chic, n’est-ce pas?), although that in itself is phenomenal, but the marrying one of your former fave students part. As a fellow teacher, I can only hope something as mind-blowing as that happens to me someday! Congratulations on everything!!!

I knew that you of all people would get the absolute coolness of one of my favorite students becoming my daughter in law! The world works in mysterious ways…

Mother of the Groom indeed! You certainly don’t look like anyone’s Granny, darling girl! Pretty, and pretty on you! I love these bright prints … a reminder that I have to bring a couple of items from last year that I want to restyle.
We’re no fools. We buy multiples in colors of shoes that we love. I do it all the time, if I can afford to!

Thank you Jan…I don’t feel like it either! It’s kind of big to get my head around. And yes, I often buy in multiples if I really love something. Why not, if you can afford it and it makes you happy!

Wow! What a beautiful outfit, and just perfect for celebrating a Wedding!!! I hope you wear something equally amazing (maybe not so formal though, hehe) to welcome the new little one. :o)

PS: It could be worse…my mom became a “Mimi” when my brother was only 2. :o)

Haha! I keep telling myself that realistically based on the age of our kids I could’ve been a grandmother in my 30’s…
