Few things make me happier than when the weather warms up and we get our outside habitat back into shape after the long dreary winter months…
THE STORY
…One of things on my rather extensive “things I need to get done before surgery” list was the backyard/patio work. We did indeed manage to get most of it done prior to my surgery, and my husband finished up the rest of it last week. We have different areas of the yard set up and decorated different ways; kind of like the rooms in a house. We even have all sorts of decorative pieces hanging from our fence, just like our inside walls. Each is different and each serves a purpose. For example, the little table that I’m sitting at in some of today’s shots is where I like to have my morning coffee.
I think my favorite spot is the area right off of the patio. Our brown faux wicker furniture is set up under a huge umbrella/gazebo type thing and it faces the entire back yard. That is where you’ll most often find me kicked back with my dogs and my Kindle during the day, and in the evening I like to sit there with my cup of coffee and just look at the plethora (and by plethora, I mean plethora) of lights scattered throughout the yard. At night it makes me think of some sort of magical place that fairies might live. It’s just so peaceful and calming sitting there looking at the lights and listening to the tree frogs. And without fail, every year, once we get everything done and set up, I just feel like all is right with my world.
THE OUTFIT
I have always been a fan of layering sheer pieces over other things. Typically you would find sheer tops or a sheer dress that already had an unattached underslip. But recently it’s become kind of a thing. A trend if you will. I couldn’t be happier, and I assure you, I’ll be wearing my sheer pieces long after the trend has died down.
This sheer dress that I layered over a sundress was my first purchase. Since then I’ve acquired the pink sheer hoodie I’m wearing today as well as a black high/low tunic and a soft pink skirt. Don’t worry, they’ll all be showing up here eventually. The cool thing about a see through item, like this pink sheer hoodie, is that you can layer it over virtually anything. And the addition of that one simple layer exponentially ups the wow factor of an outfit like it did here with a basic shorts and tank top look.
And do you know what else easily ups the wow factor of any outfit? A Jord Wood Watch, that’s what. I already own one, which coincidentally I’m wearing with the sheer dress outfit I linked above. It’s such a cool watch and the wood really makes it unique. So when Jord asked me if I would like to review one of their Spring watches, I was immediately on board. I often wear the watch I already own, and every single time I get compliments on it. I have no doubt that this newest addition from the Fieldcrest Series in Dark Sandalwood will also be an eye-catcher every time that I wear it. I love the more masculine feel of it with the larger black face and dark brown wood. It’s also the perfect neutral that will work styled so many ways.
The good people at Jord Wood Watches are giving my readers the chance to score $100 towards a wood watch of your own. And everyone who enters will receive a code for $25 dollars off simply for entering! Details and entry link below…
THE TIP
Don’t fear the sheer. Anyone can wear a sheer piece with a little bit of creative layering. A sheer top, dress or skirt can be a finishing piece over pretty much anything; tank tops, tees, dresses, jeans, leggings or shorts. You’re only limited by your imagination.
