Is it still considered the Netherworld if you have to go up to get there? I believe it is, at least in the case of my attic. Confession time…we’ve lived in this house for twenty one years and I have never cleaned the attic. Never as in ever. It’s actually two rooms and the eaves. In part of it I store my off season clothing and shoes, my extra closet if you will. The rest of it? Damn. It’s one hot mess. The funny thing is my house is for the most part always clean and organized, but hey, you can’t see the attic so why worry about, right? Today, armed with an extra large box of contractor size trash bags (trust me, regular ones would not do) I headed up. I decided to start on the piles of shoes and clothes I no longer wanted, but was too lazy too get rid of. Do you know how many pairs of shoes I hauled off to the donation box? Thirty seven. Holy crap. There’s currently a half-filled bag of mine and my daughter’s clothes up there eagerly awaiting my return tomorrow. Trust me when I say this is going to be a very long process. I guess that’s one disadvantage to staying in one place for a long time. You acquire a vast amount of nothingness. That attic is like a junk drawer gone tragically bad.
I haven’t worn this skirt in forever so I decided to give it a whirl. I prettied up the skull tee with my fancy Walmart necklace and a pair of heels and boom…I had an outfit. Oh, and in case you were wondering, no I was not wearing this when I was cleaning the attic. I was actually wearing stripper heels and bootie shorts. Not really, but hey that would spice up the attic cleaning I suppose. I took these shots last week and hadn’t used them so I figured today was as good a day as any.
