No, the title is not in reference to romance of the questionable variety. It is in reference to the weather. One of the joys of living in northwestern Pennsylvania is unless is it July or January, dressing for the weather is always an adventure in uncertainty. Last Wednesday (which was right smack in the middle of the second to last week in May, the second to last week in May people) I went to get gelato while wearing a light winter coat. I kid you not. There was a freeze warning; and it did indeed freeze. Today, a week later, it’s in the 80’s with a billion percent humidity. Whatever weather. Seriously, whatever.
In celebration of the billion percent humidity I decided to layer a kimono over my tee shirt dress as opposed to a winter coat. And the truly great thing about a kimono? You don’t even know it’s there. It’s like wearing air. I mean if it were actually possible to wear air, it would look like a kimono. In any case, I’m a huge fan of layers. They add visual interest to an outfit and can take it from okay to fabulous. Problem is, when it heats up layering can become more of a nuisance than it’s worth because honestly no one wants to melt into a puddle for the sake of fashion awesomeness. Enter the kimono. You can layer one over pretty much anything; dresses, jeans, shorts, skirts…you get the idea. A kimono is basically fashion’s gift to sweaty fashionistas everywhere.
