I often have hilarious stories for you guys about the various oddities I observe here in my little backwoods corner of the world. Almost every time someone will comment “I wish you’d gotten a picture” of whatever insane observation I’ve made, and unfortunately I’ve never had one. That is, until today…
THE STORY
…After work I made a quick stop at our local Sheetz. For those of you who are unfamiliar, Sheetz is a regional convenience store chain in Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, and a few other states in this neck of the woods. Our Sheetz is newly rebuilt and pretty highfalutin in comparison to others in our area. We might only have a population of a little over 3,000 spread over 18 square miles of farms and woods, but our Sheetz is bangin’ people. It’s like our country club; if they would add a pool (or swimming hole in our case) we’d be on par with the city folk. Ah, but I digress.
As I’m pulling in I notice a lot of random dudes milling around laughing, grunting and staring like men sometimes do when a pack of them stumbles upon something they find particularly fascinating. And here my friends, is what they were transfixed by:
Sheep. Lots of them. In a pickup truck. Getting gas. And maybe a latte to go too, who knows? Of course my mind starts working on the endless possibilities here. What are these sheep doing at Sheetz exactly? Gassing up for an impromptu road trip? Heading to Walmart for some groceries? Bowling night for sheep? After all, the bowling alley is right across the street so it’s a fair guess. Dare I say it…are they on the lam(b)? Is the farmer hogtied somewhere in a barn hoodwinked by his own livestock? So many questions, so few answers…
THE OUTFIT
Yes, I realize I look like a refugee from a lost weekend at Coachella. I actually mentioned that when I posted this outfit on Instagram the other day. That wasn’t the intent when I put the outfit together, I just threw on pieces that I felt like wearing which is typically how I get dressed. And yes, it’s the return of the oft-worn denim boyfriend shorts. That is the one true sign that summer is just around the corner; when the boyfriend shorts return from attic exile that means the temperatures are hitting the 70’s. Sadly, they are truly on their last leg so the search for a suitable replacement has commenced. This cold shoulder top, while it is technically labeled “thermal knit”, is actually perfectly lightweight and I wear it a lot. And by a lot, I mean a lot. It will continue to get play on cool summer nights and inside when the air conditioner is humming. And how sweet is this lace boho vest? I stumbled upon while perusing some of the shops on Shoptiques and fell in love. Coachella refugee vibes aside, this is one of my favorite outfits recently. It’s comfortable, casual and includes all of my current favorite pieces all together in one sweet little outfit.
THE TIP
Always make an effort to wear things that you love. It doesn’t matter if anyone else loves them, all that matters is if you do. While it isn’t possible to wear everything you love at one time, all of the time, be sure to try and wear at least one thing that sets your heart aflutter. Nothing makes a woman more beautiful and confident than feeling good in what she’s wearing.
