I’ve mentioned before the importance of a good seamstress. The difference between an item of clothing looking good and looking fabulous is fit. That’s where a seamstress/tailor comes into the picture. Even though I shop predominantly low end (Target, GAP, Forever 21, etc.) I still take things to be altered when necessary. If something fits you perfectly then it’s going to look like maybe, just maybe you made an investment in it. And in my opinion, a good seamstress is like a good hairstylist. Once you find a keeper, you are loyal to the death.
The other day I happily headed off to my seamstress with my two blazers from Target. I love them, but alas, my elfin arms are just too short and the sleeves needed tweaked a bit. So I get there and Oh. My. God. The building is empty and there’s a For Rent sign in the window…WTH?? She moved her business several years ago, but she told me ahead of time and of course, I followed. But where is she now?! Where did she go?! What am I going to do??? This is like going to get a haircut and finding out your stylist quit to take up underwater welding. I’m devastated. Who’s going to make my clothes fit my tiny little elf body? Oh, the humanity…
Fortunately, this outfit fits me just fine, no alterations needed. I wore this tee once before (here) and I’m still lovin’ it. It’s just the right thickness and it’s supremely soft. And bonus, it already had the neck cut off so I didn’t feel compelled to do it myself. I decided I’d go with the snakeskin gladiators instead of the expected slip on sneaks. Ya, I’m wily like that…like to keep you guys on your toes.
