One of the perks of being a blogger is the opportunity to collaborate with brands. It’s even better when through a collaboration there is an opportunity to bring a little bit of joy into the lives of others…
THE STORY
…Purple is my favorite color, and it is also the official color of the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge®. Ming Wang Knitwear has teamed up with the American Cancer Society to offer a soft luxurious Ming Wang designed wrap for every jacket or outfit purchased from the Fall 2015 Road to Marrakech color group or for every Ming Wang Hope Wrap purchased. There are 31 Hope Lodge locations across the United States which provide cancer patients with a free and nurturing place to stay while receiving treatment away from home.
About 27 year ago I lost my grandmother to lung cancer and then just a few years later my older brother lost his battle with liver cancer. Being there with them through both the pain of the disease and the treatments as well as the emotional pain of having to say goodbye changed me forever. Unfortunately, so many of us have had to bear witness to the physical, mental and emotional pain that our loved ones are forced to battle when faced with cancer. The purchase of this gorgeous scarf is one way that we can help to lessen that pain for others. For information on where to purchase either a wrap or a piece from the Marrakech collection please visit the Ming Wang Knits Hope Campaign.
THE OUTFIT
While the extreme softness and quality of this beautiful wrap screams “elegance”, my brain of course screams “distressed boyfriend jeans“. Hey, elegance is a purely subjective word, am I right? Originally I was going to go with kitten heel pumps, but I thought the ballet flats paired with the striped tee gave off a bit of a French vibe and what’s more elegant than a French girl? Since the weather has definitely turned the corner into Fall, the wrap not only provided the ever important third piece and a beautiful pop of color, it also provided the required layer of additional warmth.
THE TIP
While it’s easy to grab a jacket or coat when the temperature starts to cool off, don’t forget the myriad of styling options a blanket scarf/wrap provides. It can be wrapped, draped, belted or worn like a poncho and works just as well with a dress or skirt as it does with jeans.
