Mosquito Gang Bangers And A Little Nostalgia: Skinny Cargo Pants, Plaid Button Up And Converse

First things first…I took these shots in a different location than usual. Now there’s something you don’t see every day. How pathetically lazy am I? This fabulous covered bridge is like a mile from my house, but I never take pictures there. Hey, we never appreciate what we have, right? I took my daughter down there today to do her summer photos, so I figured I’d kill two birds with one stone and do my outfit shots too. But it was more like killing two bird size mosquitoes with a rocket launcher as opposed to a stone. Oh. My. God. The mosquitoes have formed gangs this year I tell you. Big scary gangs. And they have weapons. I swear they were wearing bandanas too. They are utterly horrifying. It must be something about the bizarro weather we’ve had this year because they truly are unusually large and aggressive. Yuck.
I remember when I was reeeaaallly little and this bridge was still open to traffic. Not really traffic I guess, because there is a regular bridge near it. But cars could drive over it. Sometimes when we were out, my dad would drive us across it and I would lay on the floor of the backseat (Yes, when I was little we didn’t do car seats or seat belts. It was the dark ages.) screaming in terror. It would creak and groan and felt like you were going to plunge into the river at any moment. Fine parenting right there, oh yeah. I guess maybe he was toughening me up for the real world. When I was in high school we used to party at the bridge on occasion. That was actually a lot more fun than driving across it in terror I must say. And by party I mean drink pop and eat chips. Umm…ya, that’s exactly how I remember it.
I’ve had these skinny cargo pants for years. They’re a trend that died off a while back and I just don’t care because I like ’em. I will continue to wear them as long as I like them. So there! I threw the plaid shirt on to keep warm as a mosquito attack defense because it was actually pretty cool out today. Funny thing is, if it was 68 degrees in March I’d be wearing a bikini and flip flops.

Your daughter is beautiful – just like her mom! And I can’t believe you live right by where you grew up! You hometown girl, you! I love the bridge and your story is priceless. I, too, remember jouncing around, seatbelt-less in the back of a station wagon. We’d lie down and pretend to camp out back there during road trips. Ah, the good old days…

Thank you Maricel! I don’t know whether it’s cool or tragically sad that if I just go outside and walk around the corner I’m in the trailer park I grew up in…ha!

I like this location and your daughter is too precious!! Mosquitoes love me but I don’t love them. Whenever we go home to Hawaii, I am always attacked but my hubby would not even have one bite on him. I am with you, if I like something I will wear it regardless if it’s “in” or not. You look great as usual!

Ooooh….I love your daughter’s boho style : ) A chip off the old block.

How cool that you have a covered bridge nearby. You must have been at the same parties as me where we were all very well behaved polite “young people”. Well, from what I am able to remember anyhow. That is why in the aftermath the next morning at oh, say 4 or 5 am I’d be at the McD’s drive through buying 5 OJs and 2 breakfast McMuffins extra greasy. Oh yeah. Those were the days.

The shirt looks wonderful with that tank. Nice outfit. And a pretty backdrop. Sorry ’bout the mosquitos. I hate them.

Not sure if I said this yet, but I really like that you blog. You add something beautiful and unique to the blogosphere.
