Paisley Tunic & Tulle Extender: Big Things Are On The Horizon #thefierce50

Free People Paisley Tunic, tulle skirt extender and cable knit sweater.

Today I’m keeping the story portion of the post short…

THE STORY

Last year I told you guys about this fabulous interscholastic sports program that my district started for my kids. Last night was my their first bocce match of the year and it went into double over time. No, I ain’t playin’. A bocce match that went into double overtime. Regardless, an excellent time was had by all, but dayum…I’m beat.

Even though I’m brain dead tired at the moment I do have a couple of blog-related things coming up that I’m pretty excited about. I don’t want to share all of the details just yet until everything is final, but I have a meeting Saturday with a couple of great ladies I met through Instagram. We’re cooking up a real life and social media collaboration that I think is going to be pretty fabulous. I’ll definitely share as soon as all is settled.

The second thing is an amazing campaign I was invited to be a part of with an absolutely outstanding group of over 50 bloggers across a variety of genres. Perhaps you’ve noticed #thefierce50 popping up in your Instagram feed…if not, check it out! It’s time for the world to sit up and take notice; 50 is not what it used to be, not by a long shot and we are here to prove it!

THE OUTFIT

This Free People paisley tunic is one of my favorites in my tunic collection. It’s the perfect lightweight cotton for the heat of summer, and that also makes it perfect for layering with other pieces in the winter. It works over leggings, denim or a skirt extender like the tulle extender I wore today. The taupe, burgundy, mauve colors are beautiful and play well with so many other shades.

The over the knee boots are new. I didn’t have a nude pair and when I saw these on sale at Charlotte Russe I made them mine. Unfortunately, while they are gorgeous, it is virtually impossible to lace them up tight enough at the top so you know what that means…yep, I spent all day adjusting them because they kept sliding down. I do love them though, so I need to find a way to tweak them so they stay up. Any suggestions from my craftier friends out there are definitely welcome.

THE TIP

Don’t forget about your summer pieces in the winter. Oftentimes they make the best layering pieces, plus the more wear you can get out of items in your closet, the more bang you get for your buck.

I can’t wait to see the fierce 50!!! That’s totally exciting!!!
Did I tell you I finally bought a dress lace extender?? I haven’t even worn it yet, but I am going to style a series around it!! One of these days….
I know my mom added some elastic to some boots at the top part to keep them up once?? I’m not sure if that would work for these???

SO FABULOUS!! You, my friend, are the epitome of what it means to be spirited and authentic with the uncanny knack to appreciate every tiny nuance of life. If a single person could be a human manifestation of the word “fierce”, it’d be you. What a wonderful initiative. What an opportune time to celebrate women and being a woman. I’m very much looking forward to seeing what else transpires in 16 days, and after #vivalafemale

Fierce 50 sounds amazing!

Could you replace the boots drawstring ties with a super-strong elastic tie? Then you could REALLY cut off your circulation to keep your boots up 🙂

Ok, I have a tulle shorter skirt that whenever I wear I feel soo, sooo, so very frumpy. But, you’ve just proven to me that I’ve been going about it all wrong. I need to try this styling trick that you’ve just shown me. Right on! And that fierce 50 movement–granted I don’t want to be older (this bod I have at 45 is already killing me!), but what a cool thing to be a part of. Do you have to be 50 and over? How have you been Debbie? I need to drop by way more often!! Love, Ann… Read more »

oh wow, congratulations and I have been loving the #thefierce50 Instagram pics, how does one become a member, I am 55. I think I may have said this before, but I need a pair of nude OTK suede boots this season, as I am still rocking my black ones. #Agelessstylelinkup
