Last week it was chicken camping, this week cow racing. Yes my friends, it is an ultra chic life I lead…
I have lived in the area where I currently am for my entire life, and yesterday I experienced two things that I have to say were firsts. Recently my husband and I found out about this glacier formed lake with a slice of public beach on it that’s only about a half hour from our house. Okay, ya, the place where it’s located has “Lake” in it’s name, but I seriously never realized there was a lake there. Anyhow, this place is apparently super insanely top secret; like it’s in a witness protection program for lakes. I’m a master at internet research and I found very little information on it, but I did manage to find some really vague directions so off we went to take our daughter swimming.
The road we had to take is maybe five miles from our house, but neither my husband nor myself had ever been on this road before. I mean like, never. The further we go the less civilization there was; there weren’t even banjos playing because I’m pretty sure there was no one out there to play them. I’m looking out my window as we’re driving along and I hear my husband say, “Ah, is that a cow?” I look ahead, and why yes, there was a cow strolling up the middle of the road. As we approached she moved over just enough for us to start passing her. What does she do? Starts running. Right alongside the jeep. You know those slow drivers that when you go around to pass them they speed up? Ya, this was the cow version. And the cow was wearing a collar and dragging a chain along behind her. Hmmm….maybe this solves the case of the missing cow…
Shortly after showing the cow who was boss (I mean really, how hard is it to outpace a cow in a Jeep) I hit the GPS on my phone just to make sure we were on the right track. I entered our destination and my phone’s response was pretty much, “Um, that place doesn’t exist. Go home.” Long story short, we aren’t quitters, so after a bit of wandering we found it the old fashioned way with no technological intervention. It wasn’t easy although it will be now since we know the secret undisclosed location. It was definitely worth the trip if for no other reason I can say I raced a cow and won.
I’ve been really into layering delicate necklaces lately so when I was approached about doing a collaboration with Laguna Pearl I was all over it. What better way to add a twist to a batch of delicate necklaces than a pearl necklace? I went with the 17″ length because most of my necklaces are 15″ to 18″ so that was the perfect length. It is a truly beautiful necklace; all of the pearls are absolutely perfect and it blended just as well with my other necklaces as I had hoped.
You know me, I wasn’t about to style it with a sweater set, pencil skirt and pumps; although it would work just as well if you chose to go that route. That just wouldn’t be me though, would it? I did keep it all girly on top with this sweet little peplum tank top that I picked up on clearance at JCPenney. I toughened it up on the bottom with boyfriend shorts and these super cool ankle booties I also scored on clearance at JCP…$16.99…sweet deal, right?!
