Pink Cami & Ivory Kimono: Irresistible Me Hair Extension Review Pt. 1

pink cami, ivory kimono, Birkenstocks

What is the one thing I don’t need more of? No, it’s not shoes. Or graphic tees. Or even plaid. Okay, my husband thinks I don’t need more of those things, but that’s not what I’m talking about…

It’s hair. I have a veritable follicular explosion going on on my head. I’m not complaining; trust me, I am grateful that a major head of hair is one of the only genetic gifts I was given. With that being said, when Irresistible Me first contacted me in regard to collaborating my initial thought was, “Ya, like I need more hair.” But when I saw how drop dead smokin’ hot Suzanne looked rockin’ her extensions I figured I’d give it a shot. Especially since she and I are hair twins with the whole red/blonde ombre thang, and she had her extensions colored to match. I figured I could do the same.

When they arrived I was really impressed with how thick and silky they were. They are made of 100% Remy hair, which in the extension world is a good thing. My stylist had told me to try them out only if they were 100% Remy hair. In any case I’m not necessarily an expert, so I took them to my stylist so that she could both show me how/where to place them and also trim them to match the lines of my cut. She was highly impressed with the quality and said that the Irresistible Me extensions were even better quality than the ones that she owns. That’s saying something since hair is, you know, kind of her area of expertise.

These shots were taken after she had trimmed them for me. Yes, I know that you can tell the difference between the extensions and my hair. They hadn’t been colored yet, but I wanted to do kind of a before and after for you. And besides, I was kind of loving having my long hair back and was feeling all kinds of boho fabulous with my pink cami, kimono, Birks and long flowy tresses. I’m in the process of growing it and this was like a little shortcut. I’m going to color them later this week and then I’ll do a second post next week to let you know how they took the color. Never fear my friends, I’m not cluelessly going to color my own extensions. I don’t know whether or not I’ve mentioned it before, but I do my own color. Yes, even the ombre. I’ve been coloring my own hair since I was 14 so I’ve got some experience under my belt. I’m pretty confident I can dye these babies to match my hair. I also want to keep them in all day so that I can fill you in on the comfort level, and in light of the fact it’s still over 90 degrees the last thing I want on my head this week is extra hair. Because seriously, right now shaving it off doesn’t sound like a bad idea. Stay tuned for Part Two of my extension adventure….

That kimono is so feminine and pretty. I think it is the first solid-colored kimono I have seen. The soft pastel color and pom poms make it even cuter. It looks seamless with your pink cami. =)

Have a great day, my friend!

So it looks fantabulous but I have to know, as someone completely hair inept: does one have to have a professional attach the suckers to one’s head? Or is it a clip on thing that, with practice and a patient, more capable daughter, one can manage at home?

Can’t wait to read about Part 2 – the dyeing and comfort factors are intriguing to me…

P.S. My compie remembers me on your site so now I can comment with impunity. Mwahahahaa!

I cannot wait to see how your dye job comes out! They look great cut to the right length for you.

You are so lucky to have a full head of thick wavy hair without them though. I *wish* the hair fairy had been a bit more generous with me.

Let me know how you managed wearing them all day long in the heat. I couldn’t handle more than 8 hours. I’m kind of looking forward to wearing them in winter to keep me warm though : )

Thanks for the shout-out!

bisous

Those extensions look amazing on you!!!!! I was sent Irresistible Me hair extensions too and the quality felt really good but the didn’t work for my hair 🙁 I have extremely thick hair (I cut 10 inches off to donate and it weighed 2 pounds) and the extensions were too thin for my hair. Now I’m jealous because these look so so so good on you and so natural! Gorgeous!

Your hair extensions look so real! I never would have guessed. Love the light colour scheme, they all flow together beautifully.

This looks really great, Debbie! Honestly, in these photos the extensions just look like they are a continuation of your ombre. I am looking forward to seeing how your color turns out. My extensions arrived yesterday. It should be an interesting post to say the least when I get around to it. I must make an appointment with my stylist first.

I am impressed that you can do ombre on your own!! I have been going to get my hair color since forever (every 5 weeks) and can’t imagine trying it to do it myself. I have some extensions that I bought that are very similar but they are way too hot for me to wear right not. The length you picked looks great on you and I can’t wait to see after you’ve colored it!

Thank you for joining TBT Fashion link up and hope to see you next week. Have a great weekend!
