Pink Ruffled Top & Chambray Pants: A Tad Touchy

Pink ruffled top, chambray pants and nude block heel sandals.

Did you ever have one of those days…

THE STORY

…you know what I mean, one of those days where you’re just…cranky? Out of sorts. Irritable. Well, today is one of those days for me. Fortunately my unruly hormones seem to have settled into a menopause induced stupor, but I do still have days where I’m a tad touchy. In light of that fact, I’m just not feeling a story today so how about we just allow the outfit to do the talking?

THE OUTFIT

How perfect is blush pink ruffled top for Spring? When I first saw it I knew that it would be perfect paired with denim or in this case, chambray. I can see it being the perfect partner with my shredded boyfriend shorts that are pretty much a standard on FFD once summer hits. My only complaint is the tie on the lace up part…it’s weirdly stretchy and curls up like whip licorice. But that is an easy enough fix even for one with my lack of domestic skills; I’m going to pick up a bit of blush satin ribbon the next time I’m out and about. I’m thinking that will make the top even more fabulous.

Now, back to the chambray pants. These babies are soft with a capital “S”. The best part? The drawstring is real and fully functioning. There’s nothing more disappointing (okay, an overstatement perhaps) then finding a fab pair of slouchy drawstring pants only to find out there is a weirdly tight elastic band and a purely ornamental drawstring. These are so stellar that I picked up a darker chambray pair as well; JCP was having one of their buy one get one for a penny sales so that was of course, a no-brainer.

Yes, Monday I told you that on May 16th I will be having my long delayed bunion surgery. Yes, I am wearing heels today. And yes, I am in pain. Here’s the thing though, I am in pain in heels, sneakers, Birks, barefeet, it doesn’t make a difference…so I am wearing my damn heels every chance I get between now and May 16th. Over the last several years I’ve modified the type of heels I wear though and these are an example. I have found that not only is a chunky block heel or a solid wedge more comfortable for my foot, they are also so much easier to walk in. I also keep the heel height ideally no more than about 2 1/2 inches.

Bum foot aside, these are extremely comfortable and easy to stomp around in. Perhaps you won’t believe this (quite honestly I was puzzled when I realized it), but I have no red sandals and no dressier black sandals. Since these were so comfy I ordered both a red and black pair as well.

THE TIP

Get yourself a comfortable pair of nude strappy sandals with at least a bit of a heel. I have found that I can go a bit higher with the heel if it is a solid chunky heel and/or if there is a bit of a platform in the front. A good nude sandal goes with basically everything in your closet, and assuming the shade is close to your skin tone they help to elongate the leg line.

I absolutely love these kind of heels too Debbie! I think between the chunkier heel & the strap—they are a woman’s best friend. And look how perfect they look with this outfit!
As for your hormones—personally I think chocolate is the answer to everything! And after that? Shopping!! (I’m always here for you..ha ha)

Such a sweet and feminine look on you and I love it. High heels have been my kind of shoes for years, now that my life is more casual they aren’t getting much wear and my feet hurt when I wear them for long periods. Hope you can wear all your shoes once you get rid of that pesky thing.

Oh don t tell me about hormones! I am getting pretty sick of it! Especially the hot flashes. My God, can it become anny worse…? The pants are fabulous! A sort of joggers aren t they. I wished I could were blush near my face but it makes me look sick. It looks so good on you especially with the color of your hair!

It’s okay to have one of those days. We all do! Sometimes, now that I am fully past the menopause induced fog, I welcome a day of “feeling” much of anything. Ha ha. Love your outfit. You look lovely. – Amy

I would do the same and wear heels every where up until, pain be damned I say LOL. I love the top and the ruffles. I have shied away from ruffles since my chest exploded outwards ( the downside of quitting smoking so much weight went to the chest, downside for me personally). I know you are not a flattie so seeing you in this may just inspire me to test it out again. Thanks. Oh yea and nothing wrong with being cranky

Ooh, good luck with your bunion surgery – sore feet are the worst!
