I’ll admit it; I most definitely have procrastinator tendencies. Today is no exception. Instead of finishing this post last night I waited until Monday morning (which I need to stop doing since school is starting soon), and now I’m kind of in a rush because…
THE STORY
…today is Solar Eclipse Day! I don’t know if it is officially an all caps day, like say Christmas Day, but for me it definitely is. I have been waiting for this for months, and although it’s only going to be 80% here, I am still pumped. I have a bunch of errands to run prior to the eclipse, so therefore I’m on a tight schedule. See why I should have been a good girl and finished this post last night?
I do have a few solar eclipse related tips for you though. If you are in the United States and able to view it at all, whether in totality (lucky you!) or partiality, absolutely make sure to wear the specially made eclipse viewing glasses, or make yourself a pinhole camera to view it in order to protect your eyes. Here’s a video from my local news station showing how to make a pinhole camera.
Don’t waste your time trying to photograph or video the eclipse. Just simply be. By that I mean, be in the moment. Enjoy the absolute coolness of being in a moment that you are sharing with a big chunk of humanity and Mother Nature herself. She’s putting on a once in a lifetime show for us, so actually be a part of it; experience it in real time. There is so much more to life then viewing it through your phone. That’s actually good advice for everyday, not just viewing the eclipse.
Finally, for an exact time frame of when the eclipse will be visible in your location, check out this link. Simply type in your address and it will show you in a little animated video the exact timing of the eclipse right where you are.
THE OUTFIT
How cute is this plaid tank top that I found at Walmart while I was “grocery shopping”. I really was grocery shopping, but the store is set up so that you can’t avoid passing the clothing on the way to the food and this little gem was right at the end of the aisle calling my name.
There are plenty of plaids that are geared more towards Summer because they are in more Summer-ish colors like pinks, blues and yellows. What drew me to this plaid tank top is the fact that it’s a more Fall/Winter style of plaid, but on a little wisp of a tank top. It’s a cool juxtaposition. I also like that later on when it is cooler outside, it will make the perfect layering piece under sweaters.
I last wore these chambray joggers back in the Spring. I also have them in a lighter shade of blue, and both pairs are perfect for when you want to wear long pants, but it’s too warm for actual jeans.
THE TIP
My last two posts have included tips for transitional dressing. First, I mentioned layers and then footwear choices. Today’s transitional tip involves prints and material. Choosing a print with a more Fall/Winter vibe, but on a Summer piece gives your look a hint of cooler weather to come. As does a piece that is more traditionally cool weather friendly, but in a lightweight material like my chambray pants.
