I have several super fabulous collaborations coming up for you guys in the coming weeks. Let me remind you, if I’m approached by a retailer/shop in regard to an item(s) that wouldn’t jive with my style and my blog then I politely decline. And yes, that has happened on several occasions. To be perfectly honest, when I was first approached by Covered Perfectly I wasn’t sure about doing a collaboration. Why? While it’s true I recently turned 50 and their clothing is designed for women over 40, I am a vocal opponent of the “a woman over 40 should dress like a woman over 40” argument. But with that being said, I figured that even though the clothing was geared towards a specific demographic, perhaps there would be items that worked for any age and/or style so I decided to check it out. It was a happy little surprise to discover that the majority of their clothing line translates well to women of all ages.
I’m glad I gave them a chance because otherwise I would have missed out on this fierce sleeveless kimono (although it’s referred to as a vest on the Covered Perfectly website). Since by now my overwhelming obsession with kimonos is pretty much public knowledge (Exhibit A, B, and C) it should come as no surprise that this is what I chose to review. Also no surprise is the fact I chose to style it with a Def Leppard graphic tee and denim boyfriend shorts. Seriously, does a zebra print sleeveless kimono not scream rock n’ roll? Well, at least in my world it does.
I have about a gazillion other ideas for styling this little gem in mind, and I plan on making it work all year round even though it is absolutely perfect for breathing some life into my tank top and denim shorts summer uniform. I suggest you swing by Covered Perfectly and check them out. Besides the kimono they have some outstanding layering pieces and a leopard print pencil skirt that I just might have to snatch up before school starts in the fall.
