Spots And Checks

When I wore this to work the other day and got the thorough once over from a few select individuals, (you know the look I mean…very intense up and down with no words spoken) I knew I’d nailed it.  When I put something together that’s outside of the box, like mixing checks with leopard, some people just don’t get me.  And I’m perfectly cool with that.  I like being unique and I don’t want to look like everyone else.  As soon as I put this blouse next to my leopard skirt I loved it. I liked how the two prints played off of each other, and I threw in the skinny burgundy belt to tie it all together.  Yes, I said burgundy and not oxblood.  Why invent a new name for a color that already exists?  I was pretty pleased with the end result, and really isn’t that what’s important?

Style Tip:  Being unique is a good thing.  Try pairing things that at first glance might not seem to go together, you might discover something fabulous.

Blouse: JCPenney (available in-store only);  Skirt: Ebay;  Pumps: Target (no longer available);  Belt: Walmart (available in-store only);  Necklace: Jane.com

Thanks so much for the kind words. It’s true, as long as you feel great, who cares?

I agree…predictable is so boring. This is va va Voom!

I also agree about burgundy. They are always trying to reinvent the wheel it seems.

Rock those mixed prints girl!! I love when I get those looks too – I love stepping outside the box and appreciate someone else who does the same! I think you look great!

Love the looks…not sure if people don’t realize they are doing it or if they’re intentionally trying to make you feel bad…either way, don’t care! I am actually amused by the ridiculousness!

I wouldn’t have thought to pair this together but it actually works! Yay to being yourself and not caring what others think. 🙂 Oxblood actually a tad bit creepy. Burgundy is better.

This outfit is super adorable and I am so glad you don’t care what others think!
Seeing peoples faces is what is the best.
I am the same way at my work. I get a hard time because I like to dress up.

Yep! You did nail it, and I admire the fact that you knew it! I’m often not sure when I stretch my fences.
Extremely cute outfit from a great and unusual combination.
There are so many names for a deep red with brown or blue mixed. No matter what you call it, you’re right on the money!

I’ve gotten pretty good at knowing when I get it right and when I don’t. The days that I don’t, I just try to roll with it and learn from the mistakes!
Thanks for the compliments Jan!
