Striped

Black and white striped maxi with a red/coral tank top…not a lot of excitement goin’ on up in here today! Here’s the thing though, sometimes you just want to be comfortable, am I right?  And this outfit is comfortable, but it’s still a notch or two above pajamas with feet style-wise.
My typical everyday hanging around the house going nowhere outfit is my baggy denim shorts, a tank, and flip-flops. I’m not gonna lie, in real life it just isn’t realistic, nor does it make sense to be scrubbing the kitchen floor or mowing the yard in a maxi skirt.  But it doesn’t take all that much effort to switch the shorts out for a skirt if I have a few errands to run.
That’s why it completely baffles me as to why I see so many hot messes running around in public. I mean seriously, do these people not have mirrors at their house, or are people just that apathetic about their appearance?  One of my favorite quotes ever, that I found on Pinterest is “Being well-dressed is a beautiful form of politeness.”  I’m not sure who said it, but it hits the nail on the head.

I Love that quote! I’m very, very guilty of going everywhere in jean shorts. But I do try to dress them up with a scarf and nice shoes 🙂 But, you make an excellent point that it’s really not that hard to pull on a skirt! I haven’t found a maxi skirt I love, but I do have tons of dresses and have been trying to pull them on instead of shorts lately! Your skirt is adorable and if I had it, I would definitely pull it on and switch out the shorts! Great post… and definitely has me thinking!… Read more »

Isn’t it an awesome quote? I too will often wear my denim shorts out and about because they are actually perfectly nice GAP boyfriend shorts. I just throw on a belt, maybe a necklace or two and off I go…nothing wrong with that! I was thinking more of the atrocities I see on a regular basis at Walmart (I know I cut on Walmart people a lot, but it’s the only store around and honestly there’s a website with pics of “the people of walmart” for a reason!!). There is never one time I’m there that there aren’t people wearing… Read more »

I really, really love this look. I have the same skirt and it looks so pretty paired with coral. This outfit would work for so many things. It’s just put together enough.

Really like the bright tank with the striped maxi skirt! 🙂

Maxi skirts are so comfortable, but I agree they look a little more put together than shorts! 🙂

Thanks Mica! A skirt does look a bit more put together and a lot of times, especially with a maxi, they are more comfortable than shorts!

I never thought about being well-dressed as being a form of politeness, but I totally see how that makes sense! I definitely appreciate seeing nicely dressed people around me.

It’s an interesting quote…some people might think it’s totally off base, but I very much agree with it.
