Striped Pencil Skirt & Floral Top: Bad Picture Week

striped pencil skirt, floral top, black blazer

Did you ever have one of those weeks where pretty much all of your outfit photos were just kind of…

THE STORY

…I don’t know, just kind of “meh”? Last week was one of those weeks. The outfit was stellar, but the lighting sucked. Or the outfit was again, pretty fabulous, but I kind of looked like I had my butt kicked by a bunch of middle schoolers. Then there were the shots where I thought the outfit was a winner, but then I saw the photos and…um, no. The struggle is real my friends, the struggle is real.

In any case, these are the best of the shots. Okay, actually there were two other sets I liked better, but they both involved jeans and I was thinking it was time I threw in something other than denim. Variety is the spice of life, am I right? At least it is in the world of fashion anyways. So just imagine that the resting bitch face that I have going on in these shots is me being all high fashion-esque as opposed to what I actually look like on not enough sleep after being locked in a room with eleven pre-teens all day.

THE OUTFIT

Ah…the elusive striped pencil skirt. At least it was elusive for me; either too short, too big in the waist, the stripes were too wide…you get the idea. It took forever and a day to find the just perfect one. The nice thing is I found this one at Forever 21 for under $15 so that made it even better. As I’ve mentioned before, stripes and florals are two of the easiest prints to mix so I went with my sheer floral top. The black blazer grounded it and gave the look a bit of a professional edge. It really is amazing how much a blazer can change the entire look of an outfit, isn’t it?

THE TIP

Adding a blazer to an outfit; any outfit, including jeans and a tee, really dresses up the whole look.

Hey don’t be so hard on yourself. High fashion-esque or not, your photos and your face look great. That striped skirt is great. I would love a midi pencil style in thin black and white stripes and I agree floral with stripes are meant to be. Cute necklace, also. And hey is the skirt current?

I think your photo’s turned out great! But yes, I’ve been there .. take 50+ photo’s and they’re all bad .. gawd, I hate those days .. then I start with the “why do I bother” self doubt .. lol. the struggle is real.

I am totally feeling the same way about my pictures this week too. My face looks in pain today and my post on Thursday – let’s say I was probably sleeping when I took the photos. Love the mix of patterns and I think you look great!

I’m constantly deleting all and redoing photos, especially when my photographers are not home and I have to use the tripod. Your photos look great! I love the stripes and floral! This is such a pretty look!
