The ugly to comfort ratio simply stated is, the more unattractive the item, oftentimes the more comfortable said item is. And it would seem this applies only to footwear and not clothing. Think about it. Were 80’s prom dresses comfortable? Christmas sweaters? Polyester leisure suits? No. No they weren’t. Now think about shoes. Orthopedic shoes, Ugg boots, and Birkenstocks; all crazy comfortable. Do you see them and think “Wow! Those are smokin’ hot gorgeous!”? Perhaps you do, but me, not so much.
I held out on the Ugg boots, or in my case, Ugg-like boots for years. I thought they were hideous. But after I tried on my first pair of Bearpaws I was sold. They are like wearing fluffy little clouds on my feet. I have six or seven pairs now and wear them all winter long. Since this whole Birkenstock thing started I’ve been opposed. Sure, they look cool enough in an ugly sort of way on other chicas, but they weren’t for me. About a week ago, while meandering through JC Penney, I happened upon these Arizona knock-offs. What caught my eye was the color~I’m a sucker for olive green. The display pair was my size so I slipped one on and Oh. My. God. It was like an army of tiny foot massagers were in my shoe. I was in love. I’m sure the real deal is probably even more comfortable, but I just can’t justify spending that much when these are like a quarter of the price and come with an army of little dudes massaging my feet. Sometimes comfort wins.
This t-shirt dress is also obscenely comfortable, like a soft nightie. It also washed up surprisingly well although I didn’t dry it. So this entire outfit was like wearing my jammies and slippers. And you can’t go wrong with that.
