It’s been one of those weeks…
THE STORY
…not a bad week mind you, I’m just completely thoroughly exhausted. My butt has been kicked, my brain is shooting sparks out my ears and I couldn’t be more excited that it’s Friday; well, I suppose I could be if I was oh, I don’t know…awake. In any case, no story today. Unless of course it’s a bedtime story, in which case I’m on board.
THE OUTFIT
Ahhh…my beloved tulle skirt. As I mentioned previously, I’ve decided that I love tulle skirts enough that I want to pick up a few more colors. On a side note, if you happen to click over to that post I was also oddly enough, wiped out then too. Perhaps I have some mysterious tulle allergy…there damn well better be a shot for that because I just ordered a burgundy tulle skirt on the super cheap at Charlotte Russe during the cyber-Monday deals which I cannot wait to receive. Unfortunately, it’s no longer on sale, but it’s still relatively inexpensive and they currently are offering free shipping if you’re interested.
I paired it with my where’s Waldo striped sweatshirt because, well, what’s the fun in dressing up an already dressy skirt? My trusty moto jacket has become my go to outerwear due to the pre-apocalyptic heatwave we’ve been experiencing. It was also handy in that it added a hit of edge to the girliness of the tulle. The neckline of this particular sweatshirt doesn’t lend itself well to a necklace, so instead I added the plaid scarf for some third piece action.
THE TIP
If you’re elfin-sized like me, you need to be mindful of the length and volume of a tulle skirt should you choose to wear one. In my opinion, midi length works best as long as it hits a narrow part of your leg; either right below the knee or right above the ankle. Go too short and you risk looking like a ten year old in a party dress. In regard to volume, keep the layers of tulle to a minimum. Too much volume can overwhelm a small frame.
