No, this post isn’t me lamenting about the weather again…
THE STORY
…My obsession with interest in the weather started when I was but a wee one. I remember when I was three or four years old, every night when the weather came on the local news I would pull my little stool right up in front of the black and white television. I was completely engrossed in every single word that came out of Larry Yeagley’s mouth, or Larry Eggy as I referred to him in my little girl speak. He was our local weather man and oh, how I loved my Larry Eggy.
Well, my kids and I are studying the weather in Science. I decided on a whim to email the meteorologist (they are not weather men anymore my friends; ya, I suppose that is kinda sexist) and invite him to come and speak to our class. You guyssss….he said yes! Omgomgomg!!! He’s coming next Wednesday. I feel like a Rolling Stones groupie who just scored a backstage pass! And double bonus points because he used to be a storm chaser…holy crap! I’ve hit the motherlode; a meteorologist who chased storms. Yes, my kids are excited. We watch part of his weather report each day on the big screen at the beginning of Science class, so getting to meet someone who is on television is cool. But I’m off the hook; seriously, the Mick Jagger of weather. I can’t even.
THE OUTFIT
More pastels for Fall/Winter? Yes, thank you very much. I really am making an effort to not wear so much gray and black. I’m not sure why I always default to those two colors in the winter, but I do. And what fun is that? A girl needs some color and pastels are particularly unexpected. I found the sweater at Walmart and bought it in every color a size too big. I sized up because I wanted a slouchier look. I finally pulled out my heeled work boots which you may recall were a big hit with 7th grade boys last year. I can’t explain that previous statement, but it is what it is. And the two boys in question were just still as pumped about them as 8th graders. Like I tell my daughter, boys are weird. The open suede vest was actually my outerwear because with the warm temperatures a full-on coat wasn’t necessary. I scored it at Target several months ago, and I loved it immediately because the light cream color made it stand out from the usual tan color.
THE TIP
Don’t fret over what the number on the tag says. What matters when buying clothing is how it fits and looks on you; not the number/letter on the tag. If sizing up means a better fit, then by all means, size up. Seriously, who sees the tags on your clothing anyways?
