Well, if you ever doubted me, here’s the proof…
THE STORY
…Unless it’s a casual ripped jeans weekend look, what you see is in all likelihood what I wore to work. How is this proof? The location my friends. Where, I ask you, is there a more chic place to take outfit shots than in a middle school cafeteria? I bet that right about now you’re all pretty envious. You’re probably thinking, “I want to take my outfit shots in a school cafeteria too!” No? Ya…probably not.
It was actually out of necessity although I’m not sure why it never occurred to me before. The lighting isn’t bad and there’s plenty of room at the one end of the cafeteria. It made the perfect spot for that run of below zero days that made it impossible (okay, maybe not impossible but I was unwilling) to shoot outside.
It did require some multitasking though. The copy room is right off of the cafeteria, so I was carrying on conversations with my co-workers while snapping shots. Good thing I’ve been doing this long enough that I’m over my awkward phase of taking pictures when there’s people around…
THE OUTFIT
Velvet. Joggers. Two of my very favorite things all rolled into one piece. That means when I first saw these velvet joggers on the GAP website back before Christmas, I knew they would be mine. Once they arrived, I was in love…they were soft, cozy and the most gorgeous shade of midnight blue. But…they were too big. I promptly hopped online to order a smaller size, but unfortunately they were sold out. Since I loved them, and since they are joggers and thus a certain amount of slouch is okay, I kept them and I’m glad I did! Depending on the footwear, I can scrunch them up at the ankles (with pumps or sneakers) or simply let them slouch around the ankles (with booties).
I decided to be a rebel and pair dark blue with black because I really wanted to wear my black lace up sweater that my love gifted me with at Christmas. They…whoever “they” are, say that you shouldn’t wear dark/navy blue with black. I say why the hell not? I think they look pretty fabulous together. As per usual, I did a little front tuck to give it all a hint of shape while making sure the sheer white tank still peeked out a little to provide a little break between the black and midnight blue.
THE TIP
It’s perfectly fine to wear dark blue and black together. As long as you’re happy with how they play together that’s all that matters.
