This is an example of what I’m typically running around in on the weekends. At least the top half is. This is the first time ever that I’ve gone out in the world with just leggings on the bottom half. I kid you not. The plaid shirt and cardigan gave me the requisite butt coverage, but I still felt a little strange. Don’t get me wrong. What’s not to love about leggings? They are super comfortable and really warm and cozy, but typically I have them on under something like a maxi for example. I’m not shy or modest by any stretch of the imagination, but when I’m wearing leggings I feel kind of, I don’t know, exposed maybe. Leggings phobia aside, I thought it all looked good together after checking out the pictures. Maybe I’ll try it again sometime since no one pointed and broke out into hysterical laughter.
I think my fear stems from all of the women (of all ages) I see wearing leggings as pants with no coverage in the bum area. I just think that looks bad, even if you have a super fabulous booty. Even my daughter, who’s only nine, is required to cover up her rear view if she’s planning on leaving the house in leggings. In my opinion, if leggings were meant to be pants they wouldn’t be called leggings they’d simply be pants. To each her own though…if you have the confidence to wear your leggings in place of pants, then rock on sister, rock on!
