What’s Your Name Again?: Boyfriend Khakis, Floral Top And Ballet Flats

One of the hazards (or blessings?!) of moving back to the middle school is that I’ve already had most of my students for three or four years. Such is the life of a special ed teacher. We don’t get a whole new crop every year like regular ed teachers. It’s the same students until they leave the building you’re in. In any case, we all know each other pretty well.
The other day I asked one of my boys to run up to a study hall to give a message to a co-worker. When I see her later she tells me he found her and said, “That lady downstairs wants to talk to you.” She asked which lady and he responded, “You know, the one with the red hair.” Seriously little dude? I’ve only been your teacher for three years now. Three. Years. I’ve really made a helluva impact on his world. Although to be fair, this is the same guy who asked me last week if we were going to my room at the elementary to take a science test.
I picked up this top last year on clearance at JC Penney. I really liked that it’s floral, but more of a fall floral than a summer one. The sad thing is, after only a couple of wears a spot on the neckline frayed. I almost gave it the boot, but I figured I could wear a cardi or blazer over it. Problem solved and top saved from banishment. I went with the blue ballet flats because they picked up the blue in the print. And the khakis? Well, they were just comfortable.

I think the flats are a good choice with this outfit. They add a nice color pop. I also think the necklace is a nice touch. It’s a great comfortable fall look. Frayed collar? No problem. Wear it to school. Obviously the little dude won’t notice. He can’t get past the red hair. Ha ha!

Ahhhh! That blue is stellar! Then again, we both knew I’d say that, right? But really, I love how you took the one color that really stood out from the top and totally bookended it with the flats. And pairing it with khakis? Fuggedaboutit! Perfect Friday outfit!

The outfit works perfectly — a nice blend of pieces. And the flats are adorable.

I didn’t know you were a Special Ed teacher. You mentioned middle school several times but not this aspect. I respect what you do greatly. I couldn’t do it. I don’t have the patience.

Woot, woot! Gotta love special ed.! Even though I don’t teach in a school any more, I am the gymnastics/dance staffer who is called in to teach one-on-one with our special needs kiddos. It’s crazy… my special friends are the ones who can remember my name and about 75% of the students (even those that I have taught for over a year in multiple classes) just call me “Teacher!”

I used to teach, music though. My parents taught the blind. Great that you are in special ed. That boy! How could he not know your name/ I love this bright colored floral top mixed with neutrals and those pretty flats! I like to see women in flats too.

Kids are so funny…that particular boy is so out there, he’d probably forget his head if it wasn’t attached.

Tremendous ensemble, Debbie {but I have an issue} I would deem that color “olive”. I have a pair of pants that are the exact color and I always say they are ‘olive’. My Lauren Conrad Olive Green Pants. Yuppers, that’s how I term them. ♪♫You say khakis and I say olive — khakis olive – olive khakis — awh let’s call the whole thing off. ♫♫ {tomato – tomaato}Funny how kids don’t get the details like you would think they would. You are a trooper for just being there for them each day and each year. I admire you so.… Read more »

Haha! Renae you are so funny! I actually do call to these as olive. I use “khaki” to refer to the type of pants. 🙂
