White Vest & Brown Peep Toe Booties: Instasnipers + A Firmoo Eyeglasses Giveaway

white vest, brown peep toe booties, gray pants

You guys know by now (well, those of you who’ve been around awhile) that I often make up words; both for my own amusement and to describe something that just doesn’t have a suitable descriptor in the English vernacular. My latest? Instasniper. What’s an Instasniper you might ask?

An Instasniper is a perplexing creature that I’ve recently encountered on my Instagram feed. It’s someone who doesn’t follow you, but randomly decides to spew negativity on your feed. I’ve been blogging now for over two years and been on Instagram for a year and a half and have been fortunate in that I’ve not received any nasty comments. I have received a few super skeevy comments, but that’s a story for another day…

Last week on two different posts, two different individuals left decidedly negative comments. Did it bother me on a personal level? I can tell you quite honestly, no it didn’t. I recently eliminated a couple of people from my life permanently due to their unfounded negative opinions about me, and they were blood relatives for crying out loud. Fortunately for me, I’ve been on this earth too long and experienced too much cruelty in my world to really give two craps about what people think of me. If you love me, great, I’ll love ya right back. If you don’t? That’s cool, feel free to move along. So two random strangers certainly hold no weight in regard to how I feel about myself.

What did bother me? The blatant rudeness. Rudeness is one of my hugest pet peeves and I really don’t get why someone would even bother to waste their own time commenting on something they didn’t like when they don’t even follow me. That means they encountered my post in some random hashtag feed they were perusing, and chose to lose minutes of their life to stop on my photo and publicly out themselves as a mean-spirited person.  If I see an outfit I don’t particularly care for, um, I just don’t comment. Why waste the time? Time wasting aside, the better question is why be mean? If someone is digging the outfit they put together that day enough to post it, then good for them. Who am I to make them feel less because of their choices? And like I said in my reply to one of them, “The beauty of fashion is everyone has a unique style and unique tastes…that’s what makes it fun. There are a lot of things I don’t get either, but I can still appreciate them for the expressions of individuality that they are.” Ironically, the woman who left the comment deleted it after that reply. Hey, if you can’t take the heat baby, stay away from the fire.

So, are you loving this white vest? I know that I am. Last year I bought a similar black vest at Target and didn’t order the white one. After obsessing over the white vest for a week or so, I went back online to order it and it was sold out. Don’t you hate when that happens? Fortunately for me, they had a similar one this summer so I snapped it up pronto. And yes, I refer to it as a vest not a sleeveless blazer. Why? Because to me the definition of a sleeveless blazer would be, well, a vest. The booties are of course the second pair from the best sale score ever. While I do really like the subtlety of this outfit, looking at the pictures I’m thinking it needs something more if I wear it again. A leopard print belt perhaps? I was going to wear a belt, but I figured the drapiness of the top would hide it. In hindsight, I should have tucked the top a bit more and added the belt. Live and learn my friends.

I’m like you. I don’t understand rudeness. Why do people make an effort to offend others? Nice people like you and me would never do that. Perhaps it’s because the offenders aren’t like us. I share your attitude toward them — move along. Just keep moving, you jerk.

There is really no need for rudeness, I don’t understand what is wrong with people. Love that vest!

You do this look so well. I love the casual ease of it. The outfit is fabulous but yes, I agree, a leopard print belt would ramp up the fabulousness factor even more. Those booties are awesome and I love the colour of your nails with the bracelets. I don’t mind a difference of opinion when well articulated well and sprinkled with a modicum of tact but rudeness is so unnecessary and such a waste of energy. You gave a knock out reply to that person though. I read many blogs where the blogger’s style is the polar opposite of… Read more »

I don’t really go onto instagram but I know what you mean about those pointless negative comments from people that aren’t even following. I sometimes get those on google plus, they must have such a bored life. I like this whole look Debbie. The cropped trousers with the vest. A great look.

I thought I had left a comment here days ago but I guess not, but how rude and sad can people get and be. I think you always look amazing Debbie and you rock all your looks and have some of the wittiest, down to earth, honest to God posts I know so I think you are doing an awesome job, and dressing fabulously while doing so.
Thank you for linking up to “Bloggers Who Have Inspired Me” I hope you can join again this coming Tuesday!

Debbie I’ll start with the positive (before I get onto Instasnipers!) and say that this is a very clean, chic outfit… the colours are beautiful – and like me, I love how your shoes match your hair! Red hair is handy for that, isn’t it…?! Oh, where to start with Instasnipers? Rudeness really is the worst. In fact I think the subtle “No, I don’t like this” comments – when you didn’t actually ask for an opinion – are probably the worst as the commenters have no idea they’re being mean. I know people in real life like this: I… Read more »
