Yellow Cardigan, Cobalt Blouse & Joggers: You Had One Job

As you all know, I live in a small town; as in backwoods small. Civilization is within driving distance, but that doesn’t change the banjo vibe of it. Like in most small towns we have our own water company. As such, they have one job; provide me with water. Let me clarify that statement by saying that I mean provide me with water I can actually, you know, drink. Last Friday night around 10:30 there’s a pounding on our door. I open it to find a small, bearded, flannel wearing (and not flannel wearing as in fashionable, flannel wearing as in the aforementioned banjo vibe) dude who shoves a paper in my hand. He says, “Don’t drink the water until further notice. Don’t drink it, don’t cook with it. All you can do with it is take a bath and do laundry.” Um, what?

I go inside and read the paper. Indeed, the water is so jacked up it’s not even drinkable if you boil it. The paper also says if you do ingest it you run the risk of nausea, vomiting, diarrhea (never thought you’d see those words on a fashion blog, did ya?) and a plethora of other unpleasant things. Ladies and gentlemen, by that point in the day I had already pounded down several glasses of water, two pots of coffee and made dinner with water. Needless to say, I had a rather difficult weekend. The best part is, I come to find out the yahoos knew about the water issue Friday morning…ya, thanks for telling me twelve hours after the fact. The news just said that the soonest we can expect to have safe water again is maybe this Friday. In the meantime I totally feel like a post-apocalyptic prepper; the back of my jeep is dragging on the ground due to the three thousand gallon jugs of water I’m hauling around. You had one job water company…one job.

On a brighter note, how about all of these colors? I feel like an elementary school color wheel lesson, but I like it. It doesn’t get much cheerier than bright yellow, cobalt and red now does it? I got the inspiration for the bright yellow/cobalt combo from last month’s Lucky magazine. The pop of red was my idea. Because, well, the yellow cardigan and cobalt blouse just weren’t quite bright enough on their own. Not really. I was just trying to figure out what accessories to pair with it and while perusing my necklace wall, (Don’t judge. Yes, I have a wall of necklaces.) my eyes settled on the red one and I thought “Yes! And my red pumps too!” And there you have it, color basics 101.

Your joggers are so nice and dressy. Love how you dressed them up with those red pieces. You are wearing all primary colors, here which I love. =)

How do you make joggers work with your fun-sizedness? So jealous! Also super jealous of your blue shirt because you know me and blue.

I’m glad to hear you’re being such a trooper about the water – the water! only the most important thing to life! – and are able to find humor in all this. I would be fuming mad and excoriating people right and left had it been me.

I have done the royal and the yellow lots but had not thought of red. Will be tring this one. ( Sorry on the water, I was on the road in a hotel and when I got back to my room that night, same thing, note left under the door, do not drink nor even wash your teeth, so did the hotel leave me water to use, nadda, seriously f’ed up hope it is back soon)

Until recently we lived in the mountains with our own water company and it was always drama. Our issue was always conservation. We’re pretty pleased to be on regular city water now! Anyway, colorful fun look! Thanks so much for sharing with Fun FAshion Friday! Enjoy your weekend, Debbie!

Hehe… “banjo vibe.” Love that. Definitely thought of the colour wheel when I saw this on Insta! I do hope that you get potable water soon! I know how big of an inconvenience it is when companies don’t do what they are supposed to do.

Yikes on the water issue. Whenever I read stuff like that, I end up feeling sick immediately no matter the situation. On a brighter note, your outfit is just perfect – I love how cheery it is!!
