You Know You’re Getting Old When…: Kimono, Lounge Pants And Nude Sandals

My husband and I just got home from meeting with an attorney. We have heinous, and I mean truly heinous neighbors. But that is a story for another day. The point of this story is we had to find a law firm that specializes in property issues so we couldn’t use our regular attorney. The name of this new guy sounded familiar to me and when we met him he looked really familiar. My mind worked really hard to protect me from the truth. You know, when a person is faced with something so hugely traumatic their brain goes into protective maneuvers? Well, when we were wrapping up the meeting I couldn’t not ask. “Did you go to Sharpsville?” His response, “Yes. Class of 2004, I remember you.” Talk about getting soundly bitch slapped by your age. A former high school student is one of my attorneys. Seriously? What. The. Hell. Mentally I’m like 25 years old. How did this happen? Maybe my mind will just block this out to ease my pain. Afterwards we went through a drive-thru for dinner and after handing the guy my money I get “Thank you, ma’am.” Damn. Smacked down again.
This outfit is one of my final odes to summer. It doesn’t get more summer than coral now does it? For some reason, coral is one of those colors I completely associate with spring/summer and I have a really hard time wearing it during the fall and winter. And if nothing else, this look definitely is heavy on the coral. Even so, I thought the nude sandals and turquoise necklace played off of it really well.

What a small world! I think that’s pretty funny that he is your new attorney. I hope those neighborly issues get fixed sooner than later. Yuck! I am LOVING your kimono and that statement necklace is the perfect pairing with it!

Thanks love! We’re hoping a stern letter from the attorney settles things down…

Nice Summer colors. And don’t get me started on aging — I’ve begun to have cashiers ask if I want the Senior Discount!

Well your outfit puts your age right around 30 : ) So there’s that.

One of the reasons we don’t think we can ever move is we have such great neighbours. I know how bad neighbours can make you life hell.

When we first bought the place 20 some years ago, the neighbors were wonderful. They both passed away about 15 years ago and it has literally been a nightmare ever since.

Oh you are funny Debbie! I hate that awkward moment at the grocery store that you keep seeing the same people but you can’t figure out how you know them. And … then you figure out that you keep seeing them at the grocery store. But ya, an attorney should be way older right, and of course you should be 25 for the rest of your days. Your figure does. Perfection on the ensemble my sweet! ♥

Saying “Ma’am” in Texas is not about age at all, it’s simply about being polite to a Lady. :o) (same goes for “Sir”)

In these parts, you’re “miss” until you reach some invisible line in the sand and you become “ma’am”… 🙂

My neighbor bff moved away earlier this year and the new neighbors are not so fun. Let’s just say that on the first weekend the moved in, the mom came out and asked the kids playing outside of a Saturday afternoon to be quiet because her daughter is studying!!! I am all for education but to be this demanding on your first weekend n the neighborhood? Not my idea of making friends. Good luck with your issues with your neighbor…I hope it all works out. I know how you feel about a reality check. I am always shock when a… Read more »

And now my curiosity is piqued. We must hear about the heinousness soon! The outfit is lovely as well and I hope we do see the kimono again during the school year. Coral may be a summer color but I bet it could ply nicely with denim and jewel tones.

Oh Maricel….the stories are unbelievable and it’s been going on for 12 years. We finally got to the point that enough was enough. And the kicker….these people are in their 70’s….and they also harass the sweet lady on the other side of them who is in her 80’s!!!
