Angels Jeans & Fringe Ankle Boots: Bulldog Rehab

Angels jeans, fringe boots and fur vest. Fall outfit inspiration.

Throughout the years I have been blessed with sharing my life with a variety of different dogs representing a plethora of breeds. Out of those breeds a pattern has emerged. Bulldogs, whether they be English or American are quirky little creatures…

THE STORY

…We have owned more bullies than any other breed and while they are ridiculously heart-meltingly adorable, you absolutely have to be a true dog lover to own one. They are stubborn, often contrary, burping, farting little buckets of drool; thick slimy drool I might add. The aforementioned pattern though is that they have basically zero tolerance for a change in their environment. If you rearrange the furniture you quite literally, rock their world.

Every bulldog we have owned went into a major tailspin (yep, that’s a pun) any time we changed the furniture arrangement. This weekend we just about put poor Bawb over the edge. Yes, our bulldog is named “Bawb” although I’m pretty sure he thinks his given name is a derivative of “Richard”…you know what I mean. Not only did we get brand new living room furniture delivered, which the dogs are not permitted on (ya, that’s been fun), but we also moved the old furniture into the computer/dog futon/laundry folding/location where all unwanted crap goes room and reclaimed it as a family room.

So…that means a) Bawb isn’t permitted on the living room furniture, b) We now hang out and watch television in the former “dog room”, and c) The dog futon has vanished from his kingdom. That, my friends may well be what freaked him out the most. You see, underneath the futon was the Bawb cave. Whenever he would indulge in his kleptomania, which is pretty much every day, he would snatch up whatever he was stealing and scuttle underneath the futon so fast that all you would see was a flash of white. I would check under the futon every few days and find anything from socks, underwear, and my Levis skinny jeans to solar yard lights. Yes, he steals the yard lights.

Anyway…my poor little guy. He has no idea what to do with himself. He’s been whiny, his sweet wrinkly face has been pink because his blood pressure is up since he’s stressed and he’s literally jonesing to steal something and hide it. Who would’ve guessed that a new couch would turn out to be like rehab for doggy kleptomania?

THE OUTFIT

This is the third installment of my Angels Jeans collaboration. Last week I brought you the Emily Bootcut and the week before the Victoria Curvy Skinny Jeans. Thus far, I’ve been happy with all of the pieces that I received from them, although as I said previously, in retrospect I should have gone down a size in the jeans. This pair is the Olivia Embellished Skinny Jean. They definitely fit me looser than a skinny should, but quite honestly, I like the little bit of slouch. Definitely not skinny jeans, but not boyfriends either; a nice in between fit.

The long sleeve knit top is also from Angels Jeans. Both this top and the boho tunic fit true to size. This particular top is lightweight without being sheer and super soft as well. It’s the perfect layering piece now, but the it will also transition nicely into Spring and cooler Summer evenings. Since it was definitely chilly outside, I layered it under my waffle knit cardigan and faux fur vest. And I’m loving how the fringe on my ankle boots echoes the fringe tassel on my leather choker.

THE TIP

For chilly days when a heavy coat isn’t necessary, but you still need some warmth and coverage layering is your best friend. Try a long sleeve top under a chunky cardigan with your final layer being a vest. If a bit more coverage is required finish it off with a bright cozy blanket scarf.

Poor Bawb—-it’s not easy when you can’t reason with the animals!! 🙂
Our kitties love exploring now that everything’s changed around for the Christmas decorations—definitely a totally different response!
Love the fur vest—it was so warm this weekend here, that I wore mine out and about too!

I had no idea bulldogs had all of these quirks.

Lucky for me pugs are easy going. As long as there is food around all is good.

Awww, little Bawb! poor guy! I know what you mean about a pup being aware of his surroundings and routine. My boy Gibby isnt a fan of change, he just gets perplexed.. He is very schedule oriented. I am sure he will still enjoy his doggy/entertainment room once he gets used to it. My bro has a french bulldog, Jack, and tell me about it with the gas! woo. Anyhow, I love this outfit and your pretty woodsy pictures, Deb. The fur vest is sweet with the burgundy and the jeans are very pretty! I don’t like too tight denim,… Read more »

I like the embellishment over the back pockets of your jeans, makes them look really special. The vest is gorgeous, it really adds another layer of texture to your outfit. Great look
