As I said yesterday, I’m a bit baffled by renaming things just for the sake of renaming them. But, made up words? I’m all for made up words…I do it all the time. They’re fun, they amuse me, and they often describe something quite succinctly when no other word exists that gets it quite right. Little did I know there would come a day when there would be a perfectly awesome made up word for something I’ve been doing for the last year or so. I, unfortunately can’t take the credit for it. I found it along with “latte” and “sangria” in this month’s issue of Instyle and I’m going to take it and make it my own…at least until I come up with something better. The word is “athleisure”. Athleisure means to take something typically considered gym wear (umm…or maybe even pajamas) and fancy it up to make an outfit. Holy crap! I live for that! I do it all of the time. Do you know how many times I threw on a blazer and heels with a pair of joggers or lounge pants and wore them to work this year? Ya. A lot. Now if somebody comments on it I can say, “Helllooo…have you never heard of athleisure wear? Have you been living in a cave your whole life?” And then toss my hair and strut away in my sweats and high heels.
These floral print joggers are my latest fabulous addition to my jogger/sweats collection. Are they sweet or what? I’m lovin’ the floral print. It’s almost kind of dark and moody instead of bright and springy. And how cute will they look with my pink faux leather moto jacket when it gets cooler in a few months? No. I do not want it to get cold, but these would be perfect with this jacket and black ankle boots. I’m just sayin’.
