Friday was one of those days that I really needed in my life…
THE STORY
…One of those days when the Universe reminds me why. Why I do what I do. Why it’s the moments that matter. Why it’s important to surround yourself with good people. Why the world truly is a beautiful place.
In the span of one seven hour workday…I laughed until I cried…more than once. I cried tears of sadness because a young girl broke my heart with her childlike innocence in regard to grief she is not yet truly able to understand. An autistic child snuggled into my neck and hugged me tight. One of my girls who fancies herself a rapper, did an impromptu birthday rap in front of the class for a fellow student. I walked into my classroom to discover two of my lady friends attempting to do the floss dance…might I add, attempting and doing are not the same thing. And there were cupcakes. Lots of cupcakes.
Sometimes the Universe knows exactly what we need even though we might not. We just have to keep our eyes and our hearts open, and be ready to embrace it with all we’ve got when it comes…and hope that it involves cupcakes.
THE OUTFIT
For whatever reason I had fallen out of my usual boho vibe for awhile. But obviously it’s back and back hard. For the past couple of weeks I’ve been pretty much living in boho looks. I guess it’s kinda my thang…
Since it was a chilly day (see the tiny snowflakes flitting around?) layers were definitely in order, as were over the knee boots. In my mind a good boho look calls for layers no matter what the season, so in warmer weather I simply go for lighter weight pieces for my layers. The velvet duster I layered over the boho dress isn’t heavy per se, but it does add a nice little bit of extra warmth. As I’ve said before, on those days when you’re not feeling tights, over the knee boots will do the trick to keep your legs from getting chilly.
THE TIP
If you’re thinking boho, think layers. Whether it be an extra bit of lace peeking out from under a hemline or a lacy bralette under a strappy tank top, layers are key to a solid boho look.
