…Honestly, sometimes it’s hard to narrow down the list of weekly randomness, but trust me, if I shared every bizarre thing that caught my attention I might scare you away…
You all know by now of my great obsession love for squirrels. So imagine my insane delight upon discovering this little cutie right outside my second floor classroom window:
And you all also know that upon this discovery I was standing on a chair, squealing like a three year old and snapping pictures on my phone like it was Elton John sitting in the tree outside my window. Yes, I am buying my new friend a squirrel feeder to attach to the window. Don’t judge me; squirrels are my spirit animal.
I always enjoy perusing Oprah’s Favorite Things list. I’m not sure why, but I do. This year her picks are all from Amazon and here is a roundup of cool items from the list that are super affordable. I particularly love the cross body bag and the lasagna pan (even though I despise cooking…lol).
I had a particularly rough and exhausting weekend, completely impossible to explain in words. Can I just say that there is no better cure for the weekend from hell then to have an autistic student look at you with his sweet face and say, “I love you Mrs. Stinedurf.” Literally. Nothing. Better. I love you too little man, I love you too.
I have plans to start sharing more about my beauty routine and products that I love. In the meantime, I wanted to share two of my favorite eyeshadow palettes. I use one of the two of these just about every single day. The name of the Love, Trust and Fairydust palette is what initially lured me in (obviously), but the colors sealed the deal. And the Too Faced Natural Matte Eyeshadow Palette is perfection for a basic everyday look.
THE OUTFIT
Today’s outfit comes to you complements of the lovely Ada at Elegance And Mommyhood as part of her Holiday Series. She asked that all thirteen of us put together a look that was Thanksgiving Day ready. Full disclosure…99.9% of the time holiday dressing for me means either my typical off duty uniform of boyfriend jeans (or maybe leggings) and a sweatshirt/sweater. We definitely aren’t fancy folk in these parts.
But, if I were to kick it up a notch, this floaty boho midi dress would definitely be my pick. Being comfortable in what I’m wearing is always a priority and even more so when indulging in the food fest that is Thanksgiving Day. There is no way you would find me wearing anything remotely confining in the waist area.
Not only is this dress comfortable, the colors practically scream Fall/Thanksgiving holiday season…actually if you look closely enough at the print you might find the word “Thanksgiving” hidden in it. Okay, not really, but you get what I’m saying. This is the perfect Thanksgiving Day dress in my opinion.
I went with cowboy boots to keep with the boho vibe, and the vintage red leather trench highlights the red/burgundy in the print of the dress. Three easy pieces…one perfectly pulled together and comfortable holiday look. Be sure to hit up the links below and check out the holiday outfit choices of the other twelve lovely ladies. You’re sure to find some festive dressing inspiration.
CHERYL Cheryl Shops: “Happy Thanksgiving, Ada! I am happy to share that after YEARS of looking for the perfect black jumpsuit, I finally found it. It’s the ideal thing to wear for Thanksgiving because it’s comfy but looks really polished too. The waist on this one is actually on the loose side, but there’s a front tie to add a little definition (and to cover up my food baby). I added a denim jacket, because it’s still on the warm side here in California, and a cheetah clutch and metallic red boots for a little pop of festive fun.”
DEBBIE Fashion Fairy Dust“I’m all about comfort every day, but it’s even more important on Thanksgiving when eating is the main event! A loose flowy midi or maxi dress like this one is perfect for the occasion. Not only will you look pretty and put-together, but you’ll also have room for that extra slice of pie…”
ADA Elegance and Mommyhood“Happy Thanksgiving Ladies! Thanksgiving isn’t very huge in my family since my parents work that day =( but I still like to look nice and comfortable since we will be having dinner together. I chose this festive+warm wool sweater with stone embellishments, my most comfortable pair of jeans (they are the Absolution by Nordstrom), a pair of heeled suede booties and this fun corduroy leopard newsboy cap I recently thrifted!”
LINDAA Labour of Life“Thanksgiving and Turkey they just seem to go together. Wearing a fun sweater I found at H+M a few years ago that screams the holidays. I love to get dressed up but comfort as well, so I paired the sweater with a fun flannel from old navy and my mustard pixie pants. A little dressy but a whole lot of comfort.”
MICHELLE Michelle’s Pa(i)ge“I got this dress in my latest Stitch Fix and wasn’t so sure about it however when I tried it on, it was so much cuter than I had expected! It’s been the perfect dress for all of my fall parties and I plan to wear it to a Thanksgiving gathering too!”
AMBER Avec Amber“My ideal Thanksgiving is all about comfort: both comfort food and comfy clothes! I always celebrate Thanksgiving with my family, and this casual outfit is perfect for hanging out, playing games, and eating way too much food!”
SHELBEE Shelbee on the Edge“I chose a pair of stretchy skinny jeans and an oversized poncho for Thanksgiving day. It is easy, comfortable, cozy, and looks put together while hiding the food baby! I added these fun floral booties as a little extra. I have to work at the mall Thanksgiving night, so this outfit would transition perfectly for work, but I will probably change the boots to some cute sneakers since it will be a long late night shift on my feet! May you all enjoy your Thanksgiving whether it be at home or at work!”
ROXANNE Glass of Glam“I have a tradition of watching the Macy’s parade with my family on Thanksgiving morning. A cozy, festive sweater and jeans is my favorite outfit for a day of chilling out with my loved ones.”
CHRISSY Granola and Grace“From “thankful” tees to all the colors of fall, my fashion tastes change over the years. However there’s always one common theme to all my Thanksgiving outfits: comfort. I want to be comfortable! Even when I take small portions of each food choice, it adds up to a lot so an an expandable waistline is a must. ”
LAURA I Do deClaire“This year we are actually hosting Thanksgiving in our new home! In the past while our meal is a bit more formal with china and tablecloths and such, we dress pretty casually. So I paired my favorite jeans with a lightweight poncho I recently received. It’s comfortable for running around and getting things ready beforehand and hiding turkey belly, but I still feel put together, too!”
MONICA Jersey Girl, Texan Heart“Hey y’all! First of all thank you to Ada for letting me be part of this Thanksgiving collab. I like to be comfy on Thanksgiving because I like to eat, and when I have a food baby, I want it to be hidden haha!”
JENNIE A Pocketful of Polka Dots“When it comes to Thanksgiving I enjoy wearing comfortable layers that are still classic and put together. Leopard and chambray are a favorite combination of mine and paired with cognac riding boots I am sure to get through the day with stylish ease.”
CHRISTINE Bon and Chic Style“For Thanksgiving, I’ll be wearing this khaki metallic pleated skirt and Karl Lagerfeld sweatshirt, paired with my new suede hiking boots and grey coat. I’m loving this casual boho chic combination lately. It’s super comfortable and so effortless chic.”
THE TIP
When dressing for the Thanksgiving or any holiday really, be sure to factor in comfort. Typically the holidays involve lots of time away from home and lots of eating. If you aren’t comfortable you won’t look (or feel) your fabulous best. You want to be able to enjoy your time with family and friends, not be worrying about adjusting too tight clothing or launching a button across the room.

OMG, Debbie, I love, love, love this Thanksgiving outfit! That dress is so boho-perfection and your cowgirl boots…I need a pair! Mine don’t fit. I actually need to find a solution to make mine fit since they were custom made and cost me a fortune nearly 20 years ago. I do love a good dose of randomness as well, so I found this post quite enjoyable! And I could just about hear you squealing at your little squirrel friend, but I also imagined the sound you would be making if it was a pigeon instead and he was trying to… Read more »
Oh that dress and cowboy boots – perfection! And the sweet boy telling you he loves you – priceless! Love that you got to start your week that way!
xo,
Kellyann
That IS the perfect Thanksgiving dress (or Christmas or any day), and you look gorgeous. That coat too!
I got lost in O’s favorite things and had to order the crossbody wallet, perfect for NYC. And your new squirrel is truly handsome! Great find. Stay fabulous, xox
If it were just us for t-day, I’d be in jeans too. But since we go up to my cousins house, I end up trying to look presentable!! Gotta keep up the fashion blogger persona…haha!!
XOXO

PS…I may not be Downs or one of your students, but I love you too!!
Debbie, I’ve always loved your boho style and this one is equally fabulous. LOVE! And that list of gifts suggested by Oprah? Well, I had to hop over and check them out….two things already in my cart so thank you for that! 🙂 Also, I hope that this weekend is far more relaxing than the last!
Sorry to hear you had a rubbish weekend. How wonderful you got a sincere burst of affection from one of your students. Now don’t get me started on how cute squirrels are. I have them all over our garden – our dogs are even getting used to them. I have a really fat one once, at chest height, ‘hiding’ behind a skinny twig – one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen! Fantastic dress and coat!! xx
Such a pretty dress and perfect for the holidays. I’l be wearing leggings and sweatshirt too probably! It’s just our immediate family for Thanksgiving and we don’t get fancy in any way!
I always love your randomness. So cute about the squirrels. You took a great photo. Also, how adorable of your student to say that! Fashion-wise: That dress is fabulous – length, print and especially those colors. It screams Thanksgiving, in a good way! You nailed this holiday look, Debbie!
Thanks again for being part of one of my collaborations and cannot wait to see the rest of them from you! Always love your style! <3 Ada.
P.S. You can read my special Thanksgiving post below.
These pictures are MAGICAL, like you’re in FALL FAIRYLAND! I’m dying for those tree colors. And that DRESS. Yep, that’s the perfect looking AND eating dress! Not encumbering the food baby AND looks like it will hide spills nicely (oh, wait, that’s me that does that).
Beautiful dress! I love how you’ve styled it with the cowboy boots and red trench. Absolutely stunning photos in the leaves. I adore squirrels too – I was lucky enough to have a tame one running all over me the other day. He was hand-reared but still loves to be on humans even though he’s in a big cage to get him ready for release. I wanted to take him home – he was up my arms and on my head, not even food would tempt him off me!
