I’ve always been a fan of brain candy…
THE STORY
…You know, brain candy, that mindless entertaining fluff that requires little to no thought processing. Ridiculous movies, fast-read books, Buzzfeed lists…love’em all. That’s actually how my randomness posts came to be. I’m always more likely to click on a batch of cute puppy pictures, a sweet human interest story or a list of funny tweets than just about anything else so I thought why not share my mindless entertainment with all of you. After all, couldn’t we all use a fun little mental break every once in awhile?
- First up is this list of the most adorable pit bull puppies ever…seriously, there’s so much cuteness you might have to look away for a moment…
- We all could learn a thing or two about compassion from this sweet little boy who helped out a classmate with autism on the first day of school.
- When bride to be Tara Foley learned that her grandmother would not be able to make the trip to her wedding she took a little piece of the wedding to her grandma. Read the whole story and be prepared to tear up when you see the surprise gift she had for her family on her wedding day.
- Jennifer Lopez’s “It’s My Party” tour for her 50th birthday was more than your typical music tour. She said, “But for me, it was important. It was important as a woman to do that — to let people know that you don’t get to write women off at a certain point in their life. You don’t get to write people off.” Watch the video and be inspired to go out in the world and rock on with your fierce self!
- #8, #10, #14…I seriously can’t pick a favorite from this list of tweets of really funny things kids said. I couldn’t help myself, I literally busted out laughing over a few of them…
- And finally, because, um…Fall! The most bestest season of the year! I present the Fall Foliage Map for 2019 so that you can plan your leaf peepin’ at the time of peak prettiness…
THE OUTFIT
I used to have several pairs of cargo pants, but over the years for one reason or another they vanished. I’ve always liked them though; the slouchiness, the comfort, the plethora of pockets. So I can’t say that I’m at all displeased that they are trending again and thus, easier to find. This particular pair of black cargo pants were discovered when my daughter and I were back to school shopping…of course at American Eagle. Don’t be put off by the fact they are categorized as joggers on the website; they are actually a cotton twill and are only “joggers” because of the gathered ankle.
I dressed them up for work with my pink sandals, white lace cami and the floral print tissue cardigan from H&M last year. I liked the mix of girly and tomboy, and although the cardigan is longer it wasn’t overwhelming with the loose fitting pants since it’s so lightweight. They’ll look equally as cute styled with sneakers and a graphic tee or a thicker knit cropped sweater and ankle boots once the weather turns colder.
THE TIP
Typical cargo pants are on the loose fitting side which isn’t necessarily “flattering” in the traditional sense. If that bothers you, you can find cargo style pants that are more fitted and therefore more flattering to your shape.
I however don’t get too caught up in whether or not something is traditionally flattering. If I love something and feel fabulous in it then I don’t much care if I look as wide as the broadside of a barn. The point is if you feel good wearing something, that’s really what’s important; not that you fit some preconceived notion of what looks good.
