Today’s post is going to be short and to the point…
THE STORY
…What is the point exactly? Today is the first day of Easter break and in a few hours my daughter and I are leaving to go spend the night with my son. And on the itinerary for tonight? We’re going out to dinner and to the Cher concert! I cannot wait! I was completely obsessed with her when I was little, and had no clue at the time that it was virtually impossible for me to grow up and look just like her…lol. I played her albums on my little plastic portable turntable until they were completely worn out. My son and daughter both love her too, and Cher is all that we have been listening to on repeat. I also love wandering around the city with my kids so it’s going to be an all around perfect day/night.
I’m sure that you can all figure out what my next post will be about so no surprises there. Have a fabulous Easter weekend my friends!
THE OUTFIT
Apparently my default Spring outfit formula is a tissue weight cardigan + cami + distressed jeans + ankle boots. A couple of posts ago the outfit was basically the same, but with different pieces. Just be forewarned, you’re going to see a lot of the lightweight cardigans. I have become obsessed with these perfect little fine knit cardigans from H&M. I already have them in two colors and two different prints and I have a sneaking suspicion that eventually I’ll have them all. They are the perfect weight for layering during Spring and Summer either on cool evenings or inside once the air conditioning is fired up.
Lace cami’s make the perfect laying pieces in my opinion. They can be dressed up or down and work equally well with denim or skirts. This floral cami that I’m wearing today is, believe it or not, the top half of a pajama set from Walmart. It’s true my friends. Sometimes you can find the best pieces in the most unexpected places as long as you keep your eyes open.
Finally, the boots. They are my second pair of Freebird by Steven boots. This style is called “Stair” and my other pair is the same style but in black. Freebird boots are a boho girl’s dream boots. I’ve worn them with not only jeans, but also with skirts and shorts as well. They are definitely a substantial beautifully constructed boot that will only get better with wear and age much like cowboy boots.
THE TIP
There’s nothing wrong with having an outfit formula that works for you. It’s not boring or “expected”, it’s a reflection of you and your personal style. That’s not to say you have to dress that way every day, but it’s nice to have a standby look that works for you made up of pieces that you love and feel good in. What works for me won’t necessarily work for you. Think about the items that you reach for most often in your closet and how you style them. Those pieces and what you choose to do with them make up the foundation of your own personal outfit formula.
