I’ve decided to change things up a little bit in regard to the blog…
THE STORY
…Right now I’m only in the planning stages, and I’m working on coming up with ideas. I feel as if the blog is having some growing pains. I have questions and I’m looking for input from all of you.
For quite some time now I’ve been really tired of the overall design. It’s been this way for far too long and it’s time for a makeover, so I’m currently on the market for a new web designer. Back in the spring there was a big scandal involving my current designer, so I figure since I’m looking to change things up anyway I might as well change designers too so I know I’m working with someone that I trust. Does anyone have suggestion for web designers I should check out?
I also feel like something (or things) is missing, but I’m not exactly sure what it (they) is. “The Story” section is something that will never go away as I love to write. I think it’s plays an integral role in making FFD somewhat unique. I also love to entertain, share knowledge and maybe encourage others to look at things from a different perspective through my writing.
Should “The Story” portion continue to be an every post thing, or should it be a weekly thing, or an every once in awhile thing? And if “The Story” were not to be in every post, what could replace that section in the posts where it’s not included?
Also, are there are topics that all of you would be interested in that I don’t really write about now? FFD is and always will be a personal style/fashion blog, however would you like to see occasional posts about makeup, hair and beauty products that I love, use and/or are interested in trying? Would you be interested in posts that are more shopping specific, for example current sales, tips for shopping, etc?
Lifestyle related posts are kind of dicey for me. I hate to cook (and as a result am not all that skilled), nor do I bake, sew or craft. However would you like to see some “day in the life” kind of posts? For example when I and or my family do or go something special would you be interested in seeing photos or reading about it?
As I said, I’m not really sure exactly what changes I want to make, I just know that things need tweaked a bit; and I know that I’ve thrown a lot of questions at you. I don’t expect answers to everything that I’ve thrown out there, however I definitely would love to hear your thoughts and ideas in the comments!
THE OUTFIT
Typically when I’m putting together any outfit I start with one piece that I really want to wear and then build the look around that piece. The foundation of this outfit was my new rose gold bar necklace. Since pink is kind of my jam, it should come as no surprise that I love rose gold.
Funny thing though, I don’t own much of a selection of rose gold jewelry so that was my focus when I was perusing the gold necklaces from AU Rate to make my selection. I’ve also wanted a bar necklace forever so choosing this particular necklace was a no-brainer. And bonus points because the length is adjustable making it easy to layer with a variety of other necklaces.
I had been wanting to wear my floral chiffon skirt because I absolutely love the colors, and the shades of deep pinks and burgundies were perfect with the rose gold. I considered a chambray shirt on top, which would have worked, however I wanted the necklaces to be the highlight so my v-neck cashmere sweater provided the perfect simple frame for the jewelry. My bright pink velvet booties (which I’m always excited to fetch from the attic come fall) and blush suede moto jacket made the outfit complete.
THE TIP
Pick one piece from your closet (or jewelry box) that you really want to wear and use it as your foundation piece. Then build the rest of your outfit around that single piece. This is an easy way to put together a look without getting overwhelmed. Instead of looking at your wardrobe as a whole, you’re looking at it as separate building blocks to add to your foundation piece.
