There’ a funny thing about photographs…
THE STORY
…Even if you’re the one looking through the lens, you don’t always notice everything in the frame; the minutiae that comprises the entire picture. It’s only when you look at the actual photograph, whether it be on a computer screen or on paper, that you notice the previously invisible.
If, like me, you visit a number of different blogs, you also see a number of different backgrounds. Some are city shots, others are in front of amazing graphic walls. Some bloggers go for the grittier industrial shots and still others take their photos right at their homes. And then there are the girls, myself included, who feature a more rural setting for their photos. The cool thing about it is, the backgrounds and compositions of each individual bloggers’ shots give you a glimpse into their real world, a peek behind the curtain if you will.
And today, I’m really giving you a peek behind the curtain…the tree curtain that is. If you look at these shots, what do you see? A beautiful country covered bridge with trees, nature and lots of leafy greeness; a real little country utopia am I right? You can almost see cartoon birds flitting around my head while little animated varmints sing a song praising my beauty.
Buuutttt…look closely at today’s shots and see if you notice what I didn’t when I was snapping them. Take a gander behind the bridge…yep, the trailer park. I guess a girl’s mistaken when she thinks she’s escaped her trailer park past; it’s always right there creepin’ up behind her. Instead of singing varmints you can almost hear Joe Dirt callin’ from the front porch to come over and pound down a few Old Milwaukees. Just keepin’ it real my friends, keepin’ it real.
THE OUTFIT
And in the spirit of keepin’ it real, this is how a reformed trailer park dweller dresses on the weekend. No, there’s nothing earth-shattering about this outfit, but I only share with you things that I actually wear and I actually wore this for a visit to Boutique 16063 as well as a pit stop at the outlet mall last weekend.
Just a basic tee, denim, cardigan and boots outfit. I added layered necklaces and some arm bling to spice things up and that was that. While this is nothing fancy, I do think it shows that even when you’re dressed down (way down) you can still look pulled together with the addition of a few accessories.
Here’s what makes it special for me though; the tee shirt. I’m sure I don’t need to explain the sentiment, but I do want to tell you where I got it. I purchased it from the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) which “is America’s largest civil rights organization working to achieve lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer equality. By inspiring and engaging all Americans, HRC strives to end discrimination against LGBTQ citizens and realize a nation that achieves fundamental fairness and equality for all.” An added bonus is that 100%, yes, 100% of all proceeds go towards fighting for LGBTQ equality. No, this is in no way a sponsored post. I bought and paid for the tee with my own cash. I just feel so strongly about the cause and the organization that I wanted to share.
THE TIP
Even your getting groceries, running errands, hanging around weekend basics can form the basis for a pulled together look. Simply add the right accessories i.e. jewelry, a scarf, a standout bag, and you have a look that says “relaxed weekend cool” without saying “running to Walmart in my pajamas”.
