Ruffle Sleeve Sweatshirt & Blue Suede Boots: You Might Be A Fashion Blogger If…

Ruffle sleeve sweatshirt, blue suede boots and gray pants.

November has arrived, and with it comes the chilly NW Pennsylvania temperatures…

THE STORY

…You may or may not be able to tell that I am literally freezing my butt off in these shots. The denim jacket was not cutting it my friends. But yet, there I was snapping away anyhow despite the frigid temperature. Which got me thinking about all of the strange and unusual things that I do for the sake of the blog. For those of you who wonder if you are indeed a “fashion blogger” here’s a handy guide to help you decide, and for those you that aren’t, here’s a few of our dirty little secrets:

  • Neither sweltering sweat inducing heat nor frigid icicles forming off the tip of your nose cold will dissuade you from taking outfit shots.
  • You always know what the current Pantone colors are.
  • It breaks your heart that you wore a killer outfit on a rainy day.
  • You will climb, sit, perch, stand on things that simply were not meant for climbing/sitting/perching/standing just to get a really cool shot.
  • You always find yourself overdressed for Walmart…because you know, you might get the chance to take pictures.
  • Your spouse, significant other, children, BFF are used to having to stop, drop and snap when you happen upon a sweet spot to take a shot of your outfit.
  • If you ever lost your phone, the person who finds it will think you’re a self-absorbed narcissist because 95% of the photos in your library are of you.
  • You feel like a total poser because the outfit you post that day on Instagram isn’t what you’re actually wearing…in reality you’re on your couch in sweats plowing through a bag of Lays potato chips.
  • You oftentimes carry an extra pair of shoes with you because, well, the outfit would look waayyy cuter with heels.
  • You know what #wiw, #ootd, #wiwt, and #fwis mean.
  • There is always a tripod in your backseat.

THE OUTFIT

I told you back when I wore this sweatshirt in burgundy that I would be grabbing it in more colors. Since it’s currently on sale for under $16, how could I not? So now I have it not only in burgundy, but also heather gray and this gorgeous shade of pastel blue.

Since I was wearing the sweatshirt to work on this particular day and it was more than a little chilly outside, I paired it with my gray cropped trousers. I’ve had these pants forever; they are a pair of GAP slouchy boyfriend trousers from probably about 7 years ago. They are perfect for work and easy to dress up or down depending upon what I pair them with.

I love a good casual/dressed up pairing, so the sweatshirt along with the trousers and suede ankle boots were the perfect mix. I have found that a sweatshirt is one of those pieces that works in just about any setting depending upon what you mix it with. With trousers like I did today or with a skirt (bonus points if the skirt is tulle) you can pull off a sweatshirt even at work. The ruffle details on this particular sweatshirt makes it even easier to dress up.

THE TIP

You can wear a sweatshirt to work assuming that you don’t work in an environment with a super professional dress code. The key is in the other pieces that you pair the sweatshirt with. If you add a sweatshirt to a nice pair of dress pants, a skirt or layered over a dress the look is easy to pull off. If you want to take it up another notch add pumps or high heeled ankle boots for a little more work place flair.

How about when your iphone makes up those nice little picture slideshows for you, set to music, all very nice…and it’s called “portrait memories” and every. single. picture. is. of. you. ugh. THAT just happened the other day. ha. EMBARRASSING.

Love your jewelry!

Okay, I am a totally lame blogger and have no idea what #fwis means.

I also don’t take photos in the cold nor do I know the Pantone colours. No one takes photos of me other than myself. Eek. No wonder why my blog doesn’t grow.

Those blue booties are gorgeous.

Me either Suzanne. Let’s make up what we think it means…. Fashion Week Is Stupid? Farting While I Smile? Debbie will have to hip us to the real meaning but I’m liking my second guess! 😂

Way too cute! I haven’t gotten to the point where I feel comfortable just stopping anywhere to take pics. I’m still trying to overcome my phobia about people seeing me taking pics of myself. The pics I take myself are usually in the back yard. Ha, ha. So I guess I haven’t gotten to the point of being a true fashion blogger…I’m more like a girl who has an interest in fashion but has no idea how I ever agreed to start a blog and have pictures of myself on it. Ha, ha. I love your outfit and always enjoy… Read more »

I have to admit that I’m partial to the warmer months only because of the blog photos now!! We take the photos outside, yet they are for inside wear. I need to get better at inside shots, maybe?? LOL!!
Love that you are wearing fishnets with this Debbie!! I have a couple of pair, but I have a feeling that a black pair is calling my name!!

I know you’re freezing but NW PA is gorgeous! I don’t usually carry my camera around but I really should. My friends were teasing me the other day because all of my photos are taken on the street in front of my house! You can use your imagination to come up with the names they had for me, lol.
Thanks for weathering the elements for good shots!

The “stop, drop, and snap” is so familiar to my husband – he just puts out his hand for the camera. Like Suzanne, I don’t recognize #fwis but I’ll investigate. Love this sweatshirt, looking perfect for work or for date night. xox

I love this post, Debbie! It’s completely spot on about fashion bloggers. I often think that about my phone – if anyone saw my photos they’d think I was so full of myself! And I did giggle when you said about lazing on the couch in joggers and eating chips!! LOL Wonderful!
