Ya, you guys think I’m being all cool fashion blogger babe looking casually off into the distance…
THE STORY
…but, no. I’m eyeballing the skeevy old dude creepin’ behind a tree in the park watching me take outfit shots. This would be why I prefer my backyard. The only thing creepin’ around the trees is my bulldog. And that’s cute. Weird old dudes? Not so much. Don’t get me wrong; most elderly men are adorable. This one was…mmmm….not. Right after I started taking photos, he just all casual-like strolled down the steps and acted like he was walking around the little pond. Then I see his bright green windbreaker peeking around a pine tree. He just stood there. Behind the tree. And every time I would glance that way he’d dodge behind the trunk. Because of course, the bright green windbreaker made him invisible to the naked eye. If I had to guess, I’d say his chosen profession prior to retirement was not government spy. It was kind of like last winter when the cop eyeballed me the entire time I was taking photos in an entirely different park…although I think he was planning on arresting me not locking me up in his basement.
THE OUTFIT
It has been sooo…long since I busted out the sequin pencil skirt. So long in fact that when I put it on, it fit perfectly. A bad thing? Uh, ya…considering the last time I wore it it was too big. Not hugely too big, but there was definitely more room in it. But guess what? Sequins make everything better, so I was happy anyways! And what’s better to pair with sequins than a plaid flannel shirt? Not much that I can think of. And the tee? Well, it just made sense. It’s not like I can wear it if I’m not wearing sequins.
THE TIP
Of course you can wear sequins in the daytime! Just remember to pair the sequin piece with something more casual, i.e., flannel, tee, blazer or sweatshirt. I also try to keep the other bling to a minimum, although that’s a personal preference more than a suggestion.
