For the first time in the history of Christmas…
THE STORY
…Okay, not the whole history of Christmas, but the history of Christmas in my adult life, I have all of my presents wrapped prior to Christmas Eve. You see, one of my many skills is procrastination (do you like how I made that a positive?) and Christmas is no exception. Typically my shopping is done by about the second week in December. The way my brain works, I then think that I deserve a breather. The problem is my breather extends until Christmas Eve, at which point I’m up until 2 a.m. wrapping gifts. Considering the fact that I do not enjoy gift wrapping at all and it is not one of my aforementioned skills, I am one angry elf by that point in the evening. So you can imagine my excitement over having it all done this year.
I am going to wrap this post up though (see what I did there?) because while I was busy gift wrapping and going to see Aquaman, which is a story for another day, do you know what I wasn’t busy doing? Getting ready for today. You see, my son and his boyfriend will be arriving in about 3 hours for our Christmas celebration and lunch. I haven’t cleaned the house, nor have I prepared any food at this point. Ah, the adrenaline rush…once a procrastinator, always a procrastinator…
PS…If you thought that you already saw this post over the weekend, you aren’t losing your mind! It accidentally published. The story is different, but everything else is the same.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays my friends!
THE OUTFIT
This is the second outfit that I wore for my photo shoot in Pittsburgh. Like the first outfit, I wanted the coat to be the centerpiece of the look. This outfit is more casual than the first one, and it’s what I actually wore that day while hanging out in the city.
This sweet little slice of vintage coat heaven was gifted to me by a friend; actually in fact the same friend who gifted me my fabulous red leather trench coat…do I have good friends or what?! I usually try to include one piece in an outfit that is basically the centerpiece that the look is built around. I knew that I wanted the coat to be the star and put the rest of the look together accordingly.
Lucky for me, my blue velvet ankle boots were the perfect shade to play off of the stripes in the coat. The same goes for the blue off the shoulder sweater. The distressed boyfriend jeans were the perfect final piece for a casual day of shopping and coffee sipping in the city.
THE TIP
Start with one main focus piece and then build your outfit from there. For me at least, that’s a much easier organizational strategy to save time when putting together any look.
