Because my last post was pretty heavy, today I wanted to share something that I’m pretty sure we can all agree on…
THE STORY
…the deep belly laugh and undeniable cuteness one can only find with funny puppy videos. Why funny puppy videos? Let me explain.
The sorrow and struggle that we are going through as a country right now isn’t going away anytime soon. As a matter of fact, the day after my last post went live, we had a situation at school that required an increased police presence. There were several police officers (as it should be, since you know, they’re trained for that sort of thing) patrolling our halls for most of the morning. Our principal had to go to each classroom and explain the situation and in addition, tell the kids that from now on if the fire alarm goes off we are to lock ourselves in our rooms until notified otherwise. My heart breaks for all of them…my kids, my daughter, every student in the building. They’ve never known a time when going to school wasn’t a scary proposition.
I decided though, that even though the fear is very real, they needed to learn that regardless, we need to keep on living. We need to enjoy each day. We need to laugh. I knew from past experience that the one thing they all universally enjoy is funny puppy videos. So Friday morning that’s exactly what we did…watched puppy videos on Youtube. You guys, I’m telling you…nothing does the heart better than listening to the uncontrollable laughter of every single child in my room while watching them. Deep, real laughter. In some cases with tears, but the good kind of tears. And when each video ended and they said, “Please Mrs. Stinedurf, show us another one!” How could I not oblige? Because while it’s true that part of my job description now includes keeping them alive, it’s also very much my job to make sure that they enjoy the ride.
And because we can all use a good belly laugh right now, here’s a little bit of puppy love for all of you. You’re welcome…xo
THE OUTFIT
How cute is this Fierce sweatshirt from the Forever Fierce collection? Back when Catherine first introduced them to us, I knew that I had to have this lightweight sweatshirt. It can be worn off the shoulder or not, which I love. Since I like the “my top just sorta slipped of my shoulder” look, I added a cute black lace bralette underneath.
Today I styled my fierce sweatshirt more casual with my new Tomgirl jeans from American Eagle. I guess they’re kind of a jean/pant hybrid. They are lightweight with the just right amount of stretch. I’m loving them so much that I also picked them up in gray, and I’m considering the blue as well. Since this was a casual running errands Saturday look, I kept the shoes comfortable with my gray velvet combat boots.
THE TIP
Some days you don’t need all of the bells and whistles. Fancy is fun, but there is not a thing wrong with keeping your outfit basic.
